For the past 50 plus years, Bill Cosby has been famous.  As a child I remember him promoting moral behaviours–not just for African-Americans, but supposedly for everybody.  My wife and I saw him also in person at CalPoly, San Luis Obispo a decade or so ago.

As a kid, I remember watching Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids.  To this day, I remember the words to at least one of the songs from that program.  More or less the lyrics were: You better work for whatever you get, everything else you better forget, the easy way, the easy, don’t go the easy way.

In 1976, Bill Cosby got a doctorate in education. Dr. Cosby often lectured to encourage people to take responsibility for their actions.

Although the word ‘still’ should possibly be removed, here are some comments about his lecturing:

Cosby still lectures to black communities (usually at churches) about his frustrations with certain problems prevalent in underprivileged urban communities, such as illegal drugs; teenage pregnancy; Black Entertainment Television; high-school dropouts; anti-intellectualism; gangsta rap; vulgarity; thievery; offensive clothing; vanity; parental alienation; single-parenting; and failing to live up to the ideals of Frederick Douglass, Martin Luther King, Jr., and African-Americans who preceded Generation X. Preaching personal responsibility, standing against vulgarity, and preaching against drug use are all good things.

But Bill Cosby has been exposed as a moral hypocrite.

Cosby obtained seven Quaaludes prescriptions

The deposition provides new details about how Cosby obtained the drug Quaaludes, which functions as a sedative. Cosby said in the deposition that he told a Los Angeles doctor that he wanted the drug for back pain, but he assumed the doctor knew that he actually wanted to use it for other purposes. “Quaaludes happen to be the drug that kids, young people were using to party with and there were times when I wanted to have them just in case,” Cosby said.

Asked how he used Cosby used them, the comedian said he never took one himself and instead offered them “the same as a person would say have a drink.” …

Cosby used personal details to lure women

Cosby admitted to discussing personal details of women’s lives in hopes they would sleep with him. In one case, he discussed the cancer treatment of a woman’s father. Asked if he asked “her those questions because [he] wanted to have sexual contact with her,” Cosby replied, “Yes.”

Cosby put a lot of effort into hiding his affairs from his wife

Cosby provided women with financial assistance in hopes of wining their silence. Doing that often involved a number of tactics to keep his wife from becoming suspicious. In at least one case, Cosby had his agency, the William Morris Agency, cut a check to a woman he allegedly drugged. Cosby then reimbursed the agency. http://time.com/3963716/bill-cosby-deposition/

Bill Cosby admitted to multiple extramarital affairs with women, and to sometimes giving them drugs, during his long career as a beloved comedian and social commentator, newly discovered court documents reveal.

The question of whether any part of his behavior with these women was consensual or coerced was the subject of intense questioning over a period of four days in 2005 and 2006, while Cosby, 78, was being deposed in a lawsuit brought by a former Temple University employee. …

Several dozen other women have come forward since 2014, accelerating public accusations against Cosby that began several years ago. …

Cosby admitted in the deposition to wooing and – he said – sometimes mentoring women during extramarital affairs, such as Constand. He admitted to at least five different sexual relationships, according to the Times.  …

Cosby also admitted to giving women Quaaludes – but always consensually, “the same as a person would say have a drink.”

What the Bill Cosby deposition really teaches us that Bill Cosby has long been hypocritical and that power and money affect ‘justice’ in the USA.  On the radio today, I heard that part of the reason the judge released the information publicly was essentially related to Bill Cosby’s hypocrisy.

The Book of Job teaches:

7 “May my enemy be like the wicked,
And he who rises up against me like the unrighteous.
8 For what is the hope of the hypocrite,
Though he may gain much,
If God takes away his life?
9 Will God hear his cry
When trouble comes upon him?
10 Will he delight himself in the Almighty?
Will he always call on God? (Job 27:7-10, NKJV)

13 …  and the hypocrite’s hope shall perish: (Job 8:13, KJV)

While no one is perfect, Bill Cosby’s admitted moral lapses are hypocritical and sinful.

Jesus warned those who claimed to be teachers and wanted to only look good:

25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence.  26 Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.

27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.  28 Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.  (Matthew 23:25-28, NKJV)

Of course, Bill Cosby is not the only famous person who has been a hypocrite.  But his behaviours towards women have been outrageous, and worthy of public condemnation.

Adultery is wrong.  Using drugs to bed women is wrong.  Being engaged in prostitution is wrong.  Bill Cosby admitted to all of those.  And he has been accused of even more than that.

Yet, even he can repent.  As can others.

Will the deal with Greece succeed?  According to its last finance minister, the answer is no:

Economic reforms imposed on Greece by creditors are going to fail, according to the country’s outspoken former finance minister.

Yanis Varoufakis told the BBC that Greece was subject to a programme that will “go down in history as the greatest disaster of macroeconomic management ever”.

His warning came as Greece’s prime minister, Alexis Tsipras, reshuffled his cabinet barely 48 hours after dissidents broke ranks over the bailout deal for the country. …

“We’re completely united in lambasting the highly undemocratic and economically irrational policies of the European Union towards the government.”

The reshuffle saw nine changes overall including the ousting of energy minister and veteran Marxist, Panagiotis Lafazanis, head of Syriza’s militant Left Platform. The reality is that unless there is a new major economic development in Greece, the Greeks will not be able to pay back the debt and could end up in a similar position in a few years.

Notice one political ‘solution’ to all of this is to ‘reshuffle’ the cabinet of Greek Prime Minister Tsipras.  That, of itself, will not solve the problems of Greece.  Greece needs the kingdom of God, but does not seem to consider that.  Greek Prime Minister Tsipras is an atheist.

It is not just Greece that thinks political reorganization is what is needed to prevent future problems in Europe.  French President Hollande, another atheist, had proposed an additional government for Eurrope:

PARIS—French President Francois Hollande on Sunday called for the creation of a eurozone government and for citizens to renew their faith in the European project, which has been weakened by the Greek crisis.Reviving an idea originally put forward by former European Commission chief Jacques Delors, Hollande proposed “a government of the eurozone [with] a specific budget as well as a parliament to ensure its democratic control.”

The French president said the 19 member states of the eurozone had chosen to join the monetary union because it was in their interests and no one had “taken the responsibility of getting out of it”.

“This choice calls for a strengthened organization, an advance guard of the countries who will decide on it,” he said.

The eurozone’s members are currently united in the informal body the Eurogroup, which comprises each country’s finance minister, presided over by Dutch Finance Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem.

“What threatens us is not an excess of Europe but its insufficiency,” Hollande wrote in an op-ed in the Journal du Dimanche weekly newspaper.

Hollande said Europe had let its institutions become weaker and admitted the EU’s 28 members were “struggling to find common ground to move forward. Parliaments remain too far away from decisions. And people are turning away after having been bypassed so much.”

The president said populist movements had seized on Europeans’ disenchantment with European institutions and were taking issue with Europe because “they are scared of the world, because they want divisions, walls and fences to return.”  http://www.voanews.com/content/reu-hollande-calls-for-creation-of-eurozone-government/2869333.html

Does Europe need stronger government? Will reorganizations fix Europe?

Whether or not such are ‘needed,’ the Bible shows that they will happen.  Notice a prophecy about a reorganization, that then leads more towards a dictatorship for Europe:

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.  (Revelation 17:12-13)

These ten kings have no kingdom, but are to attain one.  Thus, this is a type of reorganization in verse 12.  Since they give their power to the Beast in verse 13, this is a second reorganization.  The “beast” is not shown to have much power prior to Revelation 17:12-13.  This Beast power will control economic matters.

Notice that the Bible teaches:

15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.  (Revelation 13:15-18)

This is a dictatorial power.  It will control the economy.

While France’s Hollande is not directly proposing this, his proposal is consistent with what will happen ultimately in Europe.

However, before Revelation 17:12-13 is fulfilled, I expect more civil unrest in Greece and other countries in Europe.

The Bible is clear that the final European Beast power will be a mixture of of weak and strong parties that do not adhere particularly well together per Daniel 2:41-43. The end result will be that the Beast power will arise, reorganize (Revelation 17:12-13) and surprise many (Revelation 13:1-4).  Including the USA and UK who will not fare well (cf. Daniel 11:39).

It was recently brought out into the open that Planned Parenthood is engaged in harvesting and and ultimately selling human tissues from aborted babies.

One company that engages in such human trafficking, StemExpress, made some changes to its website, but still sells baby body parts:

StemExpress, a biotech company with ties to Planned Parenthood, has been surreptitiously editing its website since the release of a video shining a light on its practice of buying the remains of aborted fetuses.

Last Tuesday, the group Center for Medical Progress posted a video showing Planned Parenthood executive Deborah Nucatola going into detail about how she and other abortionists affiliated with the organization go about collecting body parts from aborted fetuses in order to turn them over for medical research. The video brought a great deal of attention to StemExpress, which was highlighted on the Center’s website as a major purchaser of aborted fetus material.

Shortly after the video broke and began getting attention, StemExpress’s website went down. … The company has made several subtle modifications to its website that are interesting, if nothing else.

Perhaps the most notable change is that the website has purged itself of all references to Institutional Review Boards, or IRBs. IRBs are empowered by the federal government to approve protocols for any research involving human subjects. A Google Cache of the site’s Partnerships page from June 30, before the video released, shows the company boasting of the “IRB approved protocols and consents” it could provide participating clinics. Now, the “IRB approved” part has been stricken out. Similarly, a line about the company offering “IRB Certified Consents” has been eliminated.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reached out to StemExpress to ask why the change was made, but a representative was not immediately available.

The other significant change the company has made regards the amount of content it has concerning fetal livers. Fetal livers are one of its five core products, and they make a very prominent appearance in the recent Planned Parenthood video. The company site has “product information sheets” for all its major products, including one for fetal livers.

The current version shows several of the options crossed out, and all of the links save one are dead, leading to no product information. This is a new state of affairs, as one can find archived versions of the old information sheets, and the cached version of the page shows no crossed-out options. None of the other products show any such changes.

Let me state that an IRB (Independent Review Board) is supposed to review the ethics of human trials and ensure that properly informed consent was given as well as other options.  It is not likely that mothers who aborted their children understood that their body parts may be sold.

On Tuesday morning, an anti-abortion group released a nine-minute hidden camera video allegedly showing a senior Planned Parenthood official discussing the illegal sale of post-abortion fetal body parts. …

In the video, Deborah Nucatola, Planned Parenthood’s senior director of medical services, discusses how the organization’s affiliates collect donations from women receiving abortions, which are then obtained by the research community. The key accusation in the video is that Planned Parenthood is breaking the law by making money off the sale of fetal body parts. “Planned Parenthood’s criminal conspiracy to make money off of aborted baby parts reaches to the very highest levels of their organization,” Daniel Daleidan, the investigation’s project lead and a former Live Action News writer, said in a statement. …

In Planned Parenthood’s first statement, released Tuesday, Ferrero said that several of Planned Parenthood’s health centers help women who want “to donate tissue for scientific research,” and that any money goes towards “actual costs, such as the cost to transport tissue.” …

But even if the legal accusations don’t hold up, Nucatola discusses how she and other providers potentially change the way they perform abortions when they have the needs of the research community in mind. “We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact,” she says in the video.

That has caused some doubts, even among people who support abortion rights. Laurie Zoloth, a professor of medical humanities and bioethics at Northwestern University, told Reuters in an e-mail that while the video was “being used to inflame people about abortion,” it was “terribly disturbing” and “an obvious conflict of interest” that Nucatola seemed concerned about meeting the needs of a company, instead of focusing solely on the safety of the patient. http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2015-07-15/why-liberals-should-take-the-planned-parenthood-video-seriously

Obama backs Planned Parenthood in body-parts horror

…The Center for Medical Progress, an anti-abortion group, secretly filmed a senior director of Planned Parenthood talking about the sale of body parts of aborted embryos. That director at one point indicated that it’s possible to profit from these exchanges, an act that is against the law.

It is legal to donate fetal tissue from abortions, and Planned Parenthood’s president, Cecile Richards, has defended the group’s actions as legal. She said the group doesn’t profit from these donations and that “the donation program – like any other high-quality healthcare providers’ – follows all laws and ethical guidelines.”

President Barack Obama’s top spokesman today defended the Planned Parenthood abortion business after a shocking new expose’ video caught Planned Parenthood’s top doctor describing how the abortion business sells the body parts of aborted babies.

As LifeNews reported, new undercover footage shows Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Senior Director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, describing how Planned Parenthood sells the body parts of aborted unborn children and admitting she uses partial-birth abortions to supply intact body parts.

The idea that abortion places like Planned Parenthood follows truly biblical ‘ethical guidelines’ is absurd.  Planned Parenthood is in the baby killing business.

I would also add that I did see parts of the video and the medical doctor bragged how she was able to save parts like livers for eventual sale.  Her statements did not display biblically-appropriate ethics.

The Bible tells of a time when humans and apparently their body parts will be sold in the end times, and it does not do so in a favorable light:

10…Babylon…11 And the merchants of the earth… 12 merchandise of gold and silver, precious stones and pearls, fine linen and purple, silk and scarlet, every kind of citron wood, every kind of object of ivory, every kind of object of most precious wood, bronze, iron, and marble; 13 and cinnamon and incense, fragrant oil and frankincense, wine and oil, fine flour and wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and bodies and souls of men. (Revelation 18:10,12-13)

13 Javan, Tubal, and Meshech were your traders. They bartered human lives and vessels of bronze for your merchandise. 14 Those from the house of Togarmah traded for your wares with horses, steeds, and mules. (Ezekiel 27:13-14)

The passages in Revelation 18 condemn Babylon and warn that Christians should have no part in it (Revelation 18:4).

The Bible itself warns about leaders in the end times:

One of the first acts of the Barack Obama Presidency was to change an executive order to support increased abortion funding. The fact is that Barack Obama has clearly supported increased abortion access.

He has made numerous public statements supporting abortion. His U.S. Supreme Court appointees are believed to be supporters of on-demand abortion.

By encouraging and not discouraging aspects of immorality (such as abortion and homosexual unions), Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and other are setting the U.S.A. up for punishment (Isaiah 30:12-13; Romans 1:18-32).

Abortion is wrong. And promoting or simply approving sexual immorality is wrong (cf. Romans 1:18-32).  One of the reasons that places like Planned Parenthood have support fetal-stem cell research and the selling of baby body parts is to try to claim that good comes from their wretched acts.  They are not engaged in ‘highly ethical’ behaviors related to abortion, but sin promoting ones.

There are terrible consequences for sin, and instead of properly discouraging sexual immorality, encouraging abortion increases the tendency towards sin. This does not bode well for the United States.

While Europe, China, and certain other areas also have abortion and other issues, the reality is that the Bible shows that, for a time, they will do much better than the USA. So much so, because the time is coming before their end, when the USA will be no more.

Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Saturday that a historic nuclear deal reached with world powers earlier this week won’t have any effect on Iran’s policy toward the U.S.

Khamenei said in a televised speech that U.S. policy in the Middle East runs counter to Tehran’s strategy and that Iran will continue to support its allies in the Middle East including the Lebanese, Hezbollah, Palestinian resistance groups and the Syrian government.

“Our policy towards the arrogant U.S. government won’t change at all,” he said. He was addressing a large crowd in Tehran, broadcast live on state TV, to mark the end of the Muslim holy fasting month of Ramadan.

Iran calls its Lebanese ally Hezbollah a “resistance movement” while the U.S. describes it a terrorist group. And Iran continues to call for the destruction of Israel; Khamenei in his Saturday speech described Israel as a “terrorist, baby-killer government.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has strongly opposed the deal, saying it will enable Iran to emerge from crippling economic sanctions while doing nothing to moderate Iran’s aggressive behavior around the Middle East.

“U.S. policies in the region are 180 degrees in contrast to Iran’s policies,” Khamenei said. “Whether this text (nuclear deal) is approved or disapproved, we won’t give up supporting our friends in the region. The oppressed Palestinian nation, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Bahrain, the honest mujahedeen of resistance in Lebanon and Palestine will enjoy our constant support.”

Iran’s direct talks with Washington was only limited to the nuclear issue and that there can’t be any dialogue or deal with the U.S. over any other issues, he said. DUBAI/BEIRUT (Reuters) – Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei withheld his verdict on Iran’s nuclear deal on Saturday but in a fiery address vowed enduring opposition to the United States and its Middle East policies, saying Washington sought Iran’s ‘surrender’.  …

Khamenei repeatedly used the phrase “whether this text is approved or not”, implying the accord has yet to win definitive backing from Iran’s factionalised political establishment.

“Whether the deal is approved or disapproved, we will never stop supporting our friends in the region and the people of Palestine, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Bahrain and Lebanon. Even after this deal our policy towards the arrogant U.S. will not change,” he said.

Under the agreement reached on Tuesday, sanctions will be gradually removed in return for Iran accepting long-term curbs on a nuclear programme that the West has suspected was aimed at creating a nuclear bomb. Iran denies it seeks a nuclear bomb.

Khamenei’s combative remarks about U.S. policies in the Middle East may sit awkwardly with a diplomatic offensive Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif plans in coming days in the wake of the deal. …

“The Americans say they stopped Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon,” Khamenei said.

“They know it’s not true. We had a fatwa (religious ruling), declaring nuclear weapons to be religiously forbidden under Islamic law. It had nothing to do with the nuclear talks.”

Later on Saturday, the Supreme Leader praised Iranian negotiators who thrashed out the accord in marathon negotiations in Vienna.

“During the nuclear talks, we saw the Americans’ dishonesty over and over, but fortunately our officials fought back and in some cases showed revolutionary reactions,” Khamenei said during meetings with senior Iranian officials and ambassadors from several Muslim states, according to his official website. …

Khamenei maintained that the Islamic Republic’s policies in the region would continue to defy the United States, and the nuclear deal was an exceptional instance of dialogue.

“We have repeatedly said we don’t negotiate with the U.S. on regional or international affairs; not even on bilateral issues. There are some exceptions like the nuclear programme that we negotiated with the Americans to serve our interests.”

He said U.S. policies in the region were “180 degrees” opposed to Iran’s policies.

Iran had hoped that West wanted a deal so badly that it would make a deal closer to what Iran wanted–and it has. It is very likely that the Ayatollah will accept it.  The deal agreed to this week will give Iran access to about 150 billion dollars of frozen assets that Iran can use again.  Some of those assets will likely be used for its economy and to partially deal with the Islamic State, but other funds will likely go to terrorist groups and other groups that oppose the USA and/or Israel.

Notice that Iran’s Ayatollah claims that it is the USA that are the real terrorists and that the nation of Israel is called ‘wicked Zionists.’  Iran has no intention of wanting to be the friend of the USA or anything but an enemy to Israel.

Iran’s top leader clearly has a different public view of the deal than the USA’s top leader, Barack Obama (see also Barack Obama praises Iran deal, Saudis want to take action, and Israel condemns the deal with Iran).  As far as his no nuclear weapons fatwa goes, he can always change the fatwa.  He made statements years ago supporting the idea that Iran could have nuclear weapons (see Khamenei Has Claimed Iranian Nuclear Weapons Need for the Arrival of the 12th Imam).

U.S. President Barack Obama says this past week’s deal to get Iran to stop developing nuclear weapons does “more than anyone has done before” to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon.

In his weekly Saturday address, Obama said Iran cannot cheat on the deal because the verification process it sets up is “comprehensive” and “intrusive.” …

The Obama Administration is trying to get the United Nations to approve the deal:

Republican lawmakers are fuming that the Obama administration is asking the U.N. Security Council to endorse the newly struck Iran nuclear deal before Congress gets a chance to have its say.

A vote on the agreement before the Security Council already has been set for Monday, with the resolution itself written and ready for consideration. Top-ranking lawmakers have fired off a series of letters to the president urging him to delay the vote, calling it an “affront” to the public and Congress to go to the U.N. first.

“President Obama’s attempt to circumvent Congress and hastily move forward with a United Nations Security Council vote on the Iran nuclear agreement is outrageous,” Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., said in a statement.

Under legislation agreed to earlier this year, Congress has a 60-day window to review the deal, which curbs Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for billions of dollars’ worth of sanctions relief.

Many in US Congress oppose the proposed deal.  However, if they vote it down, they would apparently need a two-third’s majority to override a likely presidential veto.  If the US Congress does get a 2/3rds majority and goes against likely UN approval, this will make the USA look bad on the world scene.  Of course, if not, then a deal that will not stop Iran’s nuclear ambitions will be able to go forward.

So, what will happen with Iran?  What does it really want?

Iran wants to takeover Jerusalem and lead the Islamic world. It then wants to takeover the world.

It hopes that the West will let it get far enough in its military plans to make that a possibility.

The time may well come when Iran ‘overplays its hand.’  We in the Continuing Church of God do not believe that Iran will be the final King of the South of Bible prophecy (cf. Daniel 11:4-43).  Because of that, I have tended to believe that Iran may somehow get “neutralized” before this final king rises up.  And it may be that provoking some type of conflict with Israel (through an attack or through simply possessing nuclear bombs) and/or the USA, etc.  Since no later than May of 2010, I have been writing that since Iran cannot be the final King of the South that it may be neutralized (see Iran Slams Russia).  If it overplays its hand, it may well be neutralized.

Notice that it is biblically possible that God will allow Iran to strike the nation of Israel.

Elam seems to be a reference to at least some in Iran. Isaiah 22 shows, presuming that it has a future application, that a time is coming when God will take away the protection of Judah and the City of David (Jerusalem, cf. 2 Kings 9:28).

Although Iran wants to dominate the Islamic world, Bible prophecy shows that it will not. But, because leaders like its past and current presidents credit a non-existent Imam Mahdi for various events and its Supreme Leader has claimed to actually speak to him, the regime in Iran must be considered unstable and capable of taking steps that would seem illogical to outsiders.

This makes Iran dangerous. Iran may well damage Israel (Isaiah 22:1-14) and even the USA. But that will not end well for Iran (cf. Jeremiah 49:34-38)

But although it does provide support to various Islamic causes now, and probably will in the future, it will not be the power that the Bible teaches will be the coming King of the South. And if it is discovered not properly handling its latest nuclear agreement, its neutralization could come soon from outside sources.

If Iran hits Israel hard like Isaiah 22 indicates, this may result in Israel hitting Iran back hard enough militarily to greatly reduce Iran’s influence–and perhaps trigger revolts or other actions there.

Notice the following prophecy which indicates at least part of Iran’s destruction before the latter days:

34 The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying, 35 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:

‘Behold, I will break the bow of Elam,
The foremost of their might.
36 Against Elam I will bring the four winds
From the four quarters of heaven,
And scatter them toward all those winds;
There shall be no nations where the outcasts of Elam will not go.
37 For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies
And before those who seek their life.
I will bring disaster upon them,
My fierce anger,’ says the Lord;
‘And I will send the sword after them
Until I have consumed them.
38 I will set My throne in Elam,
And will destroy from there the king and the princes,’ says the Lord.

39 ‘But it shall come to pass in the latter days:
I will bring back the captives of Elam,’ says the Lord.” (Jeremiah 49:34-39)

At this moment, the Obama Administration is trying to tell everyone what a great deal it made with Iran.  It describes the deal quite differently than how the Iranians seem to view it.

While a temporary peace will come to the Middle East (cf. Daniel 9:27, see also The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27), this deal is not that one.  However, let me add that the fact that it has a time element to it, in that sense will help set a precedent for a time period like the one for Daniel 9:27. Daniel 9:27 could be, for example, a ten-year deal, that is ‘confirmed’ after three years (or an eight year deal confirmed after one, etc.).

Anyway, despite the proposed deal with Iran, expect more conflict in the Middle East for a time.

Yet EU governments are stepping up surveillance of their own citizens…the 28-nation European Union itself, as a collective institution, is spending hundreds of millions of euros developing security technologies that civil liberties watchdogs say jeopardize rights to privacy. …

With concerns growing over Islamist violence even before the attacks in Paris in January, EU spending on security research, at 1.7 billion euros ($1.9 billion) in the bloc’s 7-year budget from 2014, is 20 percent up on the previous period.

EU officials estimate that represents a hefty 40 percent of all such spending by the bloc’s 28 member states, many of which lack capacity to develop such technology themselves. Among top priorities are finding ways to focus mass surveillance of the Internet, email, mobile phones and social networks on suspects.

“Member states do conduct their own research,” said an EU official familiar with such projects who spoke privately as he was not authorized to speak. “But a lot of them like to go through us – it helps keep some of this stuff at arm’s length.”

Most of the research the EU funds, much of it by private firms including from non-European states such as the United States and Israel, is listed in public tender documents, though these are time-consuming to consult. But about a tenth of the spending is set aside for work classified as top secret. …

Despite EU insistence that systems are designed to be kept under strict judicial control, some experts note that, once developed with EU cash, the software and devices owned by private firms could be used by any future buyer with fewer scruples.  …

As the quotes from the INDECT and CAPER websites show, Europe is not totally quiet about what it is doing.  Basically, the continental Europeans have more trust that their rights are considered by European espionage than they do by USA and/or UK espionage.  Bible prophecy suggests that that the trust that they have is misplaced (cf. Revelation 13:16-18).

As regular readers of this page are aware, because of the Edward Snowden leaks, Wikileaks, and other revelations, many in Europe are outraged by actions by the USA, and also the UK. The continental Europeans considered that the USA and UK were their friends and allies, and they remain upset.

The continental Europeans will not forget this. The USA as, and will, engage in additional appeasement related to this.

It is not that the Europeans do not have a double-standard like the US or the UK, but the biblical reality is that they are prophesied to do surveillance as that would be consistent with the following:

15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Those in the USA, Canada (whose espionage was also highlighted by Edward Snowden), and UK may hope that the continental Europeans will simply overlook all of their espionage, yet the time will come when the Europeans will take successful military actions against the USA, Canada, and their Anglo-Saxon allies (cf. Daniel 11:39) and the world will marvel at the success of the European actions (Revelation 13:4).

European espionage and technology will be part of that.

ATHENS—Europe came close to catastrophe as the talks between Greece and its creditors for a new bailout deal last weekend almost failed, European Council chief Donald Tusk said in an interview with a Greek newspaper published on Friday.After 17 hours, the two sides finally struck a deal in the early hours of Monday morning, staving off financial meltdown in Greece and a likely exit from the euro zone currency bloc.Tusk said German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Greece’s Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras had haggled over how much money from a Greek privatization fund would be earmarked for investment.”During the negotiations, around 0700 in the morning, when Tsipras and Merkel asked for a break, I felt that the risk that they would fail was very close,” Tusk told Kathimerini.

“At that time their difference was only 2.5 billion euros,” he said. “It was at that point that I told them that if the negotiations had ended without a result, I would have been ready to announce publicly that Europe was close to catastrophe for 2.5 billion euros.”

Europe has moved to reopen funding to Greece after the parliament in Athens approved a new bailout program in a fractious vote that left the government without a majority. The European Central Bank increased emergency funding for Greek lenders, although capital controls will have to remain in place to avoid a run on the banks when they reopen on Monday. …

“The most important thing in the negotiations was to help Greece. However, we had to discuss the medium and long-term consequences of a Grexit as a chaotic and unpredictable procedure with political and geopolitical impact,” Tusk said.

In the end, the acrimony centered on a relatively minor point: How to allocate funds in the 50 billion euro privatization fund that was one of the key platforms of the bailout agreement. At first Tsipras wanted 25 billion euros of the package to be available for investments, while Merkel insisted on only 10 billion euros for that purpose.

Then came the text message to Tusk, cobbled together by Rutte, a close ally of Merkel and a leader from a nation that also had gone through the pain of a bailout. It proposed a split of 12.5 billion euros for investments and 37.5 billion euros to pay off debt. Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is widely expected to reshuffle his Cabinet in the next few days, now that Greece has won an increase on the cap for its emergency funding from the European Central Bank.

The reprieve from European creditors followed a vote by Greek lawmakers Thursday approving tough new austerity measures that included tax increases and cuts to pensions.

The vote sparked a revolt by some members of Mr. Tsipras’ own party, as well as protests on the street by Greek citizens who say the nation is already overburdened by cost-cutting measures.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke Friday to the lower house of the German parliament in an attempt to convince lawmakers to back a new Greek bailout deal. German lawmakers gave their go ahead on Friday for the euro zone to negotiate a third bailout for Greece, heeding a warning from Chancellor Angela Merkel that the alternative to a deal with Athens was chaos.

The Bundestag lower house of parliament, whose backing is essential for the talks to start, decisively approved the move by 439 votes to 119, with 40 abstentions.

Popular misgivings run deep in Germany, the euro zone country which has already contributed most to Greece’s two bailouts since 2010, about funneling yet more aid to Athens.

Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble has questioned whether a new program will succeed, although the creditors’ offer to Athens includes the conditions for more austerity and economic reform that Berlin had demanded.

But Merkel argued for negotiating a new deal to prevent a Greek exit from the euro – the “Grexit” that might undermine the entire currency union – and said suggestions Athens might temporarily leave the euro wouldn’t work.

“The alternative to this agreement would not be a ‘time-out’ from the euro … but rather predictable chaos,” she told the Bundestag. “We would be grossly negligent, and act irresponsibly, if we didn’t at least attempt this way.” http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/07/17/us-eurozone-greece-germany-idUSKCN0PQ2MU20150717

Thousands of Greeks have protested the deal and some rioted a few days ago (see As predicted, Greeks riot).  In time, expect more protests and rioting in Greece as Greece still is not likely to be able to fully comply with the deal and reduce debt.  Plus some of the ‘austerity’ provisions are worse than others that the Greeks have protested about in the past.  Many Germans are concerned, but have decided that funding Greece for now (and they likely will be asked to do that again) is in Germany’s best interest.

As far as the European Union goes, I expect more serious ‘catastrophes’ before Europe fully rises up to become the final Beast power that Revelation 13 and Daniel 11 tells of.  This power will be composed of a mixture of of weak and strong parties that do not adhere particularly well together per Daniel 2:41-43. But they will adhere for a time and the end result will be that the Beast power will arise and surprise many (Revelation 13:1-4).

Expect more problems in Europe, including social unrest in countries other than Greece, before this happens.

New Scientist admitted some time ago that some things about the universe are just right for life on planet Earth, kind of like God intended it:

IT HAS been called the Goldilocks paradox. If the strong nuclear force which glues atomic nuclei together were only a few per cent stronger than it is, stars like the sun would exhaust their hydrogen fuel in less than a second. Our sun would have exploded long ago and there would be no life on Earth. If the weak nuclear force were a few per cent weaker, the heavy elements that make up most of our world wouldn’t be here, and neither would you.

If gravity were a little weaker than it is, it would never have been able to crush the core of the sun sufficiently to ignite the nuclear reactions that create sunlight; a little stronger and, again, the sun would have burned all of its fuel billions of years ago. Once again, we could never have arisen.

Such instances of the fine-tuning of the laws of physics seem to abound. Many of the essential parameters of nature – the strengths of fundamental forces and the masses of fundamental particles – seem fixed at values that are “just right” for life to emerge. A whisker either way and we would not be here. It is as if the universe was made for us.

What are we to make of this? One possibility is that the universe was fine-tuned by a supreme being – God. Might a replacement for the US dollar be revealed this Fall?  Stansberry Research thinks it might:

The United States has already seen its heyday. It is still going strong with its military, economic and political potential but there are other states breathing down its neck. China has surpassed the US in terms of GDP based on purchasing power parity (PPP). The cooperation among BRICS members is on the rise. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is expanding with India and Pakistan on the way to membership. Greece, the homeland of democracy, has become the weakest link of the European Union. This fact serves to emphasize the degeneration of the Western democracies with their same-sex marriages and shaky foundations the national states are built on.

The United States starts to look more like a World War II battle ship with a large hole in the hull below the waterline. The damage is not visible, the ship continues to move with it formidable guns aimed at the enemy. But as time goes by the battle ship is losing speed and starts to go down. The melting pot that was so much spoken of during the days of Bill Clinton’s tenure is not that effective anymore, the United States has failed to become a united nation and the time approaches when the Anglo-Saxons don’t have to shoulder the “White Man’s burden» anymore with Latinos taking over as the dominant group. When it happens, the United States will become a different country with different culture and, perhaps, different goals to pursue.

Today the United States is retreating to leave behind hotbeds of tension and unfinished wars. The armed conflict in Ukraine, the never ending war in the Middle East, Afghanistan and Iraq in ruins – that’s what the retreat results in. To slow down the process of degradation the United States is applying efforts to create the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) bringing together the golden bullion states as part of financial International. But this the time when “new right» and “new left» in Europe are gaining strength to insert significant changes into the plans of Washington and the financial International mentioned above. They can either try to create a new system to unite nations, or go back to the idea of common security space from Lisbon to Vladivostok.

The United States is considering the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership as a project aimed at cutting Europe off from Russia and pushing the Russian Federation deeper into Asia. The US shies away from using the term Cold War in regard to the current psychological and informational stand-off but, actually, it is waging such a war on all fronts. This affirmation is confirmed by increasing the strength and capacity of the NATO Response Force, returning US Army units to Europe, stationing forces in the countries which share borders with the Russian Federation, deploying missile defense elements in Europe, and launching debates to review the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF). The BRICS bank could be the foundation of an autarchic trading and geopolitical bloc, if based on barter agreements and an internal currency and credit created by the bank. …

At the same time Russia is pursuing another direction, the Eurasian Economic Union, comprising Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia. Will BRICS be promoted by the anti-Russia globalists as a way of derailing the Eurasian Economic Union, which could become a genuine challenge to their hegemony? …

Conclusion

Nothing about the BRICS New Development Bank suggests a challenge to international finance or to globalization. On the contrary, the BRICS declarations suggest the bank will serve as another avenue for globalization, and a means by which global capital can enter the “developing economies.” The BRICS bank can proceed without the distrust and resentment that is attached to the IMF and World Bank, acting as a proxy. BRICS opens the backdoor to Central Asia and Russia, Goldman Sachs now serving as a primary investment adviser for the latter, as it long has for China. China issued new rules making it easier for big international investors to access its $5.7 trillion interbank bond market, a step forward toward opening its capital market as it seeks to promote the yuan as a reserve currency.

Foreign central banks, sovereign wealth funds and global financial organizations will no longer need pre-approval to trade bonds, interest-rate swaps and conduct repurchase agreements, the People’s Bank of China said in a statement Tuesday. Instead, they must only fill in a one-page registration form and can decide how much they can invest, the PBOC said.

While China’s government has taken unprecedented steps to halt a $3.8 trillion stock rout in the past month, policy makers are continuing efforts to promote global use of the yuan to support its case for inclusion in the International Monetary Fund basket of reserve currencies. Winning inclusion in the IMF’s so-called special drawing rights basket, or SDR, is a top priority for China’s leadership this year and has been spearheaded by People’s Bank of China Governor Zhou Xiaochuan.

“This is a big step towards China reaching its goal of including the yuan in the SDR basket,” David Loevinger, an analyst at fund manager TCW Group Inc. and a former U.S. Treasury Department senior coordinator, said by e-mail Tuesday. “This move highlights that while recent market volatility may slow China’s march towards a more open capital account, it didn’t stop or reverse it. The consensus among China’s leaders to get the yuan included remains intact.”

China hopes to be part of the Special Drawing Rights of the IMF in November.  While a change in the SDR basket, of itself, is not the end of the US dollar, it could reflect a shift further away from the US dollar.

On December 14, 2010, Porter Stansberry of Stansberry Research Associates released a video called “The End of America.”

In it, he made the claim (at 6:18):

“Let me back up and show you in the simplest terms possible what is going on, why I am so concerned… and what I believe will happen in the next 12 months.“

He then went on to talk about the end of the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency (13:40).

“The U.S. dollar has been the world’s reserve currency for decades now. So most Americans don’t have a clue about what the repercussions are of losing this status.“

In 2014, Porter Stansberry warned of a collapse to the US dollar to occur July 1, 2014.  Six weeks prior to that, I denounced his belief on this as wrong (see FATCA dollar collapse in six weeks? Will foreign creditors rise up?).  And, of course, I was correct.

So it should be clear that Porter Stansberry has made some specific economic predictions that have not come to pass.

Does that help show that he is not a prophet?

Yes. (See also How To Determine If Someone is a True Prophet of God.)

Does that mean he is a nut?

No.

As a financial writer, he has his timing off.  Since he does not seem to utilize scripture with his predictions, that is one of the reasons why.

But is he correct that economic disaster for the USA coming?

Yes.

Is this disaster serious?

Yes.

The Bible has an end time prophecy that it says that those who read it may want to run:

2 Then the Lord answered me and said:

“Write the vision
And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. (Habakkuk 2:2-3)

What is this end time prophecy about that should cause people to run?

It is a prophecy about debt accumulation:

6 “Will not all these take up a proverb against him,
And a taunting riddle against him, and say,
‘Woe to him who increases
What is not his — how long?
And to him who loads himself with many pledges’?
7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly?
Will they not awaken who oppress you?
And you will become their booty.
8 Because you have plundered many nations,
All the remnant of the people shall plunder you (Habakkuk 2:6-8)

The USA is the most indebted nation of all time. And on a per capita basis, the UK is one of the most indebted nations on earth.

China and other nations are trying to take steps to replace the USA dollar. Not all of them will work.  And Porter Stansberry has his timing off.

But make no mistake about it, the USA is losing its economic dominance. The UK lost its, and the USA is in the process of losing its.

We in the Continuing Church of God strive to always rely on the Bible:

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts (2 Peter 1:19, KJV).

The ‘new world order’ that will replace the USA is NOT something that will treat the USA and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies well according to biblical prophecies (Daniel 11:39).

That being said, Eurasia has its own problems and will NOT end up on top the way its leaders hope it will.  But it will have certain influence and have a certain type of military success in the end times.
