12:21

Can the Great Tribulation Start in 2016?

Can the Great Tribulation begin in 2016? Certain prophecy watchers seem to think so. Some seem to think that Russia will invade Turkey in 2016, that the abomination of desolation will be set up in 2016, and/or that the Messianic age will begin in 2016. Certain Jewish writings seem to point to 2016 or 2017. What signs did Jesus say to look for? What is recorded in the Book of Daniel? If the Great Tribulation cannot begin in 2016, when is the soonest year that it can?

COP21’s proposal gets unanimous approval from 195 nations; Barack Obama says it is ‘the best chance to save the one planet we’ve got’

Saturday, December 12th, 2015

COGwriter

A major international agreement has been announced in Paris:

December 12, 2015

PARIS—Delegates of more than 190 nations meeting in Paris adopted a historic accord Saturday that aims to slow the pace of global warming and for the first time asks all countries to limit their greenhouse gas emissions.

Announcement of the final agreement Saturday evening was greeted with cheers, hugs and prolonged applause at the conference hall in Paris.

The final draft of the agreement was circulated several hours before the meeting concluded, after an all-night work session in which the text was shortened from 43 to 31 pages and simplified.

The agreement aims to keep global temperature increases below two degrees Celsius, provide $100 billion in climate investment to poorer countries, review progress every five years, and peak carbon emissions as soon as possible. …

The deal culminates negotiations that have gone on for years, and is the most wide-ranging climate agreement since the Kyoto accord.

On Saturday night, a day after an original self-imposed deadline, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, in the absence of any last minute objections, lay down a gavel and declared the 31-page document had been formally and unanimously adopted.

“This is a small gavel, but it has done big things,” Fabius said.

Fabius joined and raised hands with U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and others in a gesture of triumph and celebration.

The agreement was adopted after a plea by Ban in the final hours of negotiations. …

There was some reluctance from African nations, but in the end, they are getting billions of dollars in pledges to fund green energy projects.

France alone committed to spending more than $2 billion.

South African Environment Minister Edna Molewa said her country never expected a perfect agreement. “It’s a give and take situation in the negotiations. And indeed what comes out of here, we will know that some people may not be happy about this, not happy about that, and so forth,” she said. “But we are here.” http://www.voanews.com/content/final-draft-of-landmark-climate-change-deal-released-vote-expected/3100115.html

December 12, 2015

LE BOURGET, France — With the sudden bang of a gavel Saturday night, representatives of 195 countries reached a landmark climate accord that will, for the first time, commit nearly every country to lowering planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions to help stave off the most drastic effects of climate change.

Delegates who have been negotiating intensely in this Paris suburb for two weeks gathered for the final plenary session, where Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius of France asked for opposition to the deal and, hearing none, declared it approved.

With that, the delegates achieved what had been unreachable for two decades: a consensus on the need to shift from carbon-based fuels and a road map for the 195 nations to do so.  …

The new deal will not, on its own, solve global warming. At best, scientists who have analyzed it say, it will cut emissions by about half of what is needed to prevent an increase in atmospheric temperatures of 2 degrees Celsius, or 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit.

The United Nations’ leader pushed for this and succeeded.  The Vatican had done work for this as well, but mainly behind the scenes in Paris (see Role of Pope Francis ‘transformative’ for COP21 climate change conference).  US President Obama attended the first part of the conference and pushed for a global climate deal (see Ecumenalists push for COP21 ‘climate change’ agenda: a solution for terrorism? Barack Obama seemingly wants to stay the course).

This agreement is consistent with the Pope Francis’ Laudato Si encyclical in areas of international cooperation, climate matters, and forced wealth redistribution.

Not everyone is in favor of the agreement.  There were also protests in Paris today that this agreement does not go far enough:

December 12, 2015

PARIS—

Historic, but not historic enough, is the reaction from many activists and civil society groups to the climate deal reached in Paris late Saturday. But many others preferred to focus on the breadth and significance of the agreement.

Mohamed Adow of the anti-poverty group Christian Aid said, “For the first time in history, we have the whole world, rich and poor, making a public announcement to reduce their emissions and deal with the impact of climate change.”

Thousands of climate activists on the streets of Paris Saturday were more outspoken about the climate agreement, which they said favors rich nations and does not hold accountable those responsible for polluting the Earth.

‘Crimes’ decried

About 6,500 people from different countries gathered beneath the Eiffel Tower, 10 kilometers from the conference site at Le Bourget, a northeastern district of Paris. They called for actions that contribute to global warming to be considered “crimes against humanity.”

The accord makes key commitments on limiting global warming, although developing countries said they should be given more financial support for their efforts to meet those commitments. http://www.voanews.com/content/activists-react-to-historic-climage-deal/3100388.html

The accord is basically a move towards socialism and world governance.  Many want more of both.

US President Barack Obama hailed the agreement:

December 12, 2015

WASHINGTON – US President Barack Obama on Saturday hailed the landmark climate accord reached in Paris as strong and historic, calling it the best chance to save the planet from the effects of global climate change.

“Today the American people can be proud because this historic agreement is a tribute to American leadership. Over the past seven years, we’ve transformed the United States into the global leader in fighting climate change,” Obama said.

He said the accord shows what is possible when the world stands as one, adding: “This agreement represents the best chance we have to save the one planet that we’ve got.” http://www.jpost.com/Breaking-News/Obama-calls-Paris-climate-pact-best-chance-to-save-the-planet-437130

The paper approved today is consistent with the “New Universal Agenda” that the 193 members of the United Nations approved in late September of this year.

IT WILL NOT SAVE THE PLANET.  IT IS NOT THE ‘BEST CHANCE’ to change the planet.  IT WILL FAIL TO SAVE THE PLANET–the Great Tribulation will still come (cf. Matthew 24:21-22; watch also Can the Great Tribulation Start in 2016?).  God will have to intervene to stop the world from destroying all life on it (Matthew 24:22; Revelation 11:18).

Barack Obama calls himself a Christian, but does not believe it will take Jesus in the millennial Kingdom of God to really solve the problems that are facing humanity.  He has a false hope that humanity will solve problems on its own (cf. Psalm 146:3).

This Paris agreement is likely to greatly benefit Germany. Germany is a world leader in developing cleaner types of engines. Germany also appears to be in the lead to produce energy via helium fusion, and hence reduce the need for fossil fuels (see also German helium fusion stellarator may help propel Europe to dominate the world).

The Bible prophesies that an economically-powerful Europe will arise (cf. Revelation chapters 13 and 18).  This accord may help pave the way for nations to become wealthy trading with the end time power connected with Mystery Babylon the Great (Revelation 17:1-5), until it falls (Revelation 18:1-3).

Many world leaders believe that it will be international human cooperation that will bring a clean environment, peace, and prosperity. They do not believe it will take the Kingdom of God to make that happen.  They do not realize that what they are working on is prophesied to succeed for a time, then fail.

World leaders will fight against the millennial kingdom of God message as it is not consistent with their agendas (e.g. Daniel 11:29-35).  Many will even fight against Jesus when He returns, but will misidentify Him (see Do Certain Catholic Prophecies About Antichrist Warn Against Jesus?) and will lose (Revelation 19:11-21).

But that is not how they see it.

Today, the globalists have  another major victory in their move towards a one-world human-led government.  Expect other globalist victories, with also some difficulties, over the next several years.  But the type of human-government they are pushing for and will get will be destroyed and replaced after the return of Jesus (Revelation 11:5; 19:11-21).

Journal Out: AC Reunion, UCG’s Bob Dick, David Jon Hill, Birthday party, and ‘Alternatives’

Saturday, December 12th, 2015

COGwriter

The latest issue (says #178, print date November 30 2015) of The Journal was sent out electronically and received today.

Items covered included information on a future reunion for Ambassador College (AC) alumni, UCG’s Bob Dick, Feast of Tabernacles, David Jon Hill, a birthday party, and ‘alternatives’ to the true view of Jesus.

Here is information on the AC reunion:

Bob Gerringer of Altadena, Calif., one of several reunion organizers, reminds former students of the three Ambassador College campuses they need to start laying plans, if they haven’t already, for the big reunion in Las Vegas in 2017.

“As we officially announced this past June, students from all three campuses who attended AC during its first 30 years—1947 to 1977—are warmly and enthusiastically invited to attend the 2017 Reunion in Las Vegas, Nev.,” Mr. Gerringer said. Two websites are involved in the run-up to the event: acpasadenareunion.com (for Pasadena, Calif., and Bricket Wood, England, former students) and ambassadorbigsandyalumni.com (for former students on the Texas campus).

While my wife Joyce and I were WATS line volunteers at the campus in Pasadena, neither of us attended Ambassador College, so this is not something we would attend.  I pray that those who do attend will “contend earnestly for the faith once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3).

Here is information about Bob Dick of the United Church of God (UCG):

Robert “Bob” Dick retired from the full-time ministry of the United Church of God on Nov. 1, 2015, an- nounced an article in the UCG’s member newspaper, United News. Mr. Dick, accompanied by his wife, Dyanne, pastored churches for the Radio/Worldwide Church of God and United Church of God in Alabama, Alaska, Florida, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Oregon and Washington.

Lisa Fenchel, who wrote the United News article, noted that Mr. Dick was a founder of the UCG in 1995. He was a member of the church’s “transitional board” in ’95 and then the council of elders for 14 years, serving as chairman for eight of those years. He is still a council member.

Though I have had contact with various ones once in the United Church of God, I never had any direct dealings with Bob Dick.

The Journal re-ran an article from David Jon Hill who died November 23, 2003, that he had written for The Journal in 2003:

The first time I met Herbert W. Armstrong, founder of the Radio Church of God, I was 6 years old. My mother had been a Seventh-day Adventist but had become disillusioned with the SDAs and transferred her allegiance to HWA’s Radio Church of God, to which she listened as often as possible.

HWA, then based in Oregon, had a speaking engagement in Tacoma, Wash., and my mother took me with her to attend this meeting. She and Loma (Mrs. Armstrong) became friends at this meeting, a relationship that developed and continued until Loma’s death, in 1967. Being only 6, I didn’t have much of an impression of HWA. …

My impression of Mr. Armstrong with my more-adult eyes changed him into a father figure of sorts: his white hair (though he was younger than my dad), his obvious desire to coach his students, his warm smile, his dignified bearing. My open mind told me to listen to him. So I listened, in classes, Bible studies, Sabbath sermons, radio broadcasts and reading things he’d written. Loma, my mom’s friend, was always sweet, considerate and genuinely interested in each of us. …

Dick Armstrong, HWA’s oldest son, and I became fast friends. …

ll, time to grow up. Dick and I were almost inseparable during my freshman year. I often spent the night at the Armstrongs’ home, which is where Dick lived. We often came in so late we climbed the trellis to his room in the back to avoid disturbing anyone. Another thing about Dick, who was to die in 1957: He was the most empathic and sincere person who was genuinely interested in the welfare of others of all the people I ever met while associated with the WCG. I still miss him. As a sophomore in 1951, I was scheduled to give a sermonette at church HQ. Sixty-five were in atten- dance, including HWA. …

Friendly fellow

Raymond McNair was a friendly fellow, a true believer. He worked slavishly to improve his vocabulary; he tried learning 10 new words a day, had them on 3-by-5 cards and practiced using them on anyone who would stop to listen. He was an ad- mirable and sincere man.

Locate the tribes

Herman Hoeh had me puzzled. He was certainly intelligent, but not a mixer. If he had friends, they were academic. …

The world of words

I was editor of The Portfolio, the AC student newspaper. That started my writing and editing career. I got Basil Wolverton to create a masthead and a cartoon—he was famous for his cartoons—from time to time. I also later asked him to draw some cartoons for the Ambassador-Spokes- man Club manual, which was the thesis for my master’s degree.

David Jon Hill did a lot of research on Catholic private prophecies and how some of them will be used to mislead people in the end times.  Two of his articles related to that were published by the old Radio Church of God.  Here are links to both of them: Christ or Antichrist? and Will You Be Deceived by Antichrist?  He also wrote about how to study the Bible: How to Study the Bible.

On the back page, The Journal reported a birthday party of Pam Havir, wife of COG Big Sandy Pastor David Havir.

The old Radio Church of God and Worldwide Church of God taught against birthday parties as still does the Continuing Church of God (see Did Early Christians Celebrate Birthdays?). Interestingly, today’s recommended CCOG sermon is titled: Birthdays, Christians, and December 25th.  Early Christians did NOT celebrate birthdays, yet many non-Philadelphian Christian groups no longer hold to the original faith–but they should (cf. Jude 3).

The back page of The Journal also had an article titled “Seminar presents alternate view of Jesus.”  This is about a unitarian seminar.  One my criticisms of The Journal  is that it excessively allows unitarians to promote their views, which I do not believe were held by early Christians and which also are in conflict with scripture (see also Was Unitarianism the Teaching of the Bible or Early Church?).

Anyway, The Journal also had some Feast of Tabernacles reports and the usual letters to the editor and other advertisements, various comments, and opinion articles.

The Journal itself is available by paid subscription (though Dixon Cartwright says some subscriptions are free to those who cannot afford it).

It tends to have a non-Philadelphian approach to many matters.

German helium fusion stellarator may help propel Europe to dominate the world

Saturday, December 12th, 2015

Coil preparation for Wendelstein 7-X in Greifswald, German (Bernd vdB)

COGwriter

Germany seems to have a technological advance that could help propel Europe to dominate the 21st century:

December 12, 2015

A German nuclear fusion experiment has produced a special super-hot gas which scientists hope will eventually lead to clean, cheap energy.

The helium plasma – a cloud of loose, charged particles – lasted just a tenth of a second and was about one million degrees Celsius.

It was hailed as a breakthrough for the Max Planck Institute’s – a chamber whose design differs from the tokamak fusion devices used elsewhere. http://www.starbeaconherald.com/science/germany-in-nuclear-fusion-milestone/9178/

December 10, 2015

On Thursday, the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics fired up a monster machine that it hopes will change the world.

The machine is called the Wendelstein 7-X, or W7-X for short. It’s a type of nuclear-fusion machine called a stellarator and is the largest, most sophisticated of its kind.

Nuclear fusion could prove to be a clean, inexhaustible energy source. But humans are still a ways from successfully building a reactor that could power a small town, let alone entire cities. But now, we’re one step closer. …

Only a handful of stellarators have been attempted, and even fewer have been completed.

By comparison, the more popular cousin to the stellarator, the tokamak, is in wider use. Over three dozen tokamaks are operational around the world, and more than 200 have been built throughout history. These machines are easier to construct and, in the past, have performed better as a nuclear reactor than stellarators.

But tokamaks have a major flaw that W7-X is reportedly immune to, suggesting that Germany’s latest monster machine could be a game changer. …

Because of the stellarators’ design, experts suspect it could sustain a plasma for at least 30 minutes at a time, which is significantly longer than any tokamak. The French tokamak Tore Supra holds the record: Six minutes 30 seconds.

If W7-X succeeds, it could turn the nuclear-fusion community on its head and launch stellarators into the limelight. http://www.businessinsider.com/germany-turned-on-its-monster-stellarator-2015-10

December 11, 2015

A German nuclear fusion experiment has produced a special super-hot gas which scientists hope will eventually lead to clean, cheap energy.

The helium plasma – a cloud of loose, charged particles – lasted just a tenth of a second and was about one million degrees Celsius.

It was hailed as a breakthrough for the Max Planck Institute’s stellarator – a chamber whose design differs from the tokamak fusion devices used elsewhere.

The Sun’s energy is created by fusion.

Physicists are in a worldwide race to create stable fusion devices that could not only mimic the Sun but release abundant energy, without the volumes of toxic waste generated by nuclear fission – the splitting of the atom. …

The stellarator’s plasma was created on Thursday using a microwave laser, a complex combination of magnets and just 10mg of helium. The Max Planck Institute calls its machine Wendelstein 7-X.

The project began nine years ago and has cost 1bn euros (£720m; $1.1bn) so far.

The EU’s main nuclear fusion project is called Iter, at Cadarache, in the south of France. But it will not be fired up until the 2020s. It is controversial, having already cost more than €10bn.

Iter will be a tokamak device – the word comes from Russian, meaning a ring-shaped magnetic chamber.

Scientists have been working on nuclear fusion for more than 50 years but the extreme temperatures involved and the difficulty of controlling plasmas mean progress is slow. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-35074848

This project could greatly assist Europe and reduce its dependency of Islamic sources for fuel. It also has massive military potential.

Germany used deuterium in WWII when it was trying to develop its own atomic weapons. The USA, with the help of German-born scientists, was able to do this first. But for WWIII, the Germans seem to be ahead (see also World War III: Steps in Progress).

Since the warring and prosperous Beast of Revelation 13 will be European (check out Europa, the Beast, and Revelation and also watch the YouTube video Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European?), I have long felt that technology would be the key to Europe’s prophesied military successes (Daniel 11:39-43) as well as a reason that it will eventually be crushed by a Eurasian power (cf. Daniel 11:44-45; Jeremiah 50:41-43).

Could the ramifications of the fusion reactor actually propel Europe to rise up?

Yes.

One of the biggest problems that Europe has is its need for energy and its dependence on Russia as well as Islamic sources for energy.  If instead of having to buy energy from Russia and the Middle East Europe generates its own power (and sells some of it), then Europe will have more money available to grow its own economy as well as support more militaristic ambitions.

The use of fusion also has direct military potential.

The Bible itself shows that the Beast will have special help from “unclean spirits” (Revelation 16:13) and will be considered to be unconquerable (Revelation 13:4).

Notice what the Bible says about the European Beast’s military ability:

3…And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” (Revelation 13:3-4)

Notice that the military power of the Beast was something that the world will marvel, be astonished about.

Why?

Because despite fascination with war (Daniel 11:38), no one truly thought that the European Beast power had the military ability to defeat the U.S.A. with its Anglo-allies (Daniel 11:39), and then the Islamic King of the South (Daniel 11:40-43). Revelation 13:3-4 also supports the idea that the Beast may rise up because of violent civil unrest in Europe.

That Beast power will be European (for more biblical details, watch Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European?).

Technology seems to be the key to a powerful European military. One aspect could also include particle collider research. The number of colliders in the U.S.A. has dwindled down to one under the Obama and Bush Administrations, and the remaining one is facing budget cuts and possible closure (Matson J. Nuclear Decelerator: Last U.S. Particle Collider is on Chopping Block. Scientific American, August 24, 2012). Yet, in Europe, it now has the leading one in the world, CERN’s Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and Germany announced that it is planning a possibly even more advanced one called FAIR (FAIR stands for the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) (JCW. Go-ahead for €1.6 billion particle accelerator. The Local, June 13, 2012). The FAIR project is in process of construction.

I have long believed that Germany’s FAIR, along with the LHC and other technology, will help the Europeans produce military weaponry to fulfill certain end time prophecies. Since Revelation 13:4 is discussing what seems to be a unique type of warfare, this warfare likely includes certain high-tech weapons (such as electromagnetic pulse, neutron bombs, unique delivery systems, etc.) that will be effective for a while. The FAIR and the LHC projects are also likely to spin-off economic benefits that may help propel Europe to be (for a short while) the economic leader of the world (cf. Revelation 18).

Ultimately, the Europeans will be overcome by what appears to be a Russian-led, mainly Asian, confederation, cf. Jeremiah 50:41-43 & Daniel 11:44, possibly by exploiting some technological flaw, like creating a software virus, etc., while also amassing troops, etc.

The European Space Agency and other European programs related to technology like Horizon 2020 are expected to bear fruit to the economic and military power of Europe several years from now (Horizon 2020: The EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. European Commission. http://ec.europa.eu/programmes/horizon2020/en). Many projects are ongoing that will assist Europe.

The possible breakthrough with stellarator fusion is one of several that can potentially propel the final rise of the coming power in Europe.

Europe is concerned about Russian aggression and the USA’s direction. Europe is moving forward with its space and military plans and few in the USA seem to realize that when it gets enough power, the USA will lose all of its. Specifically notice that the Bible shows that this King of the North will destroy those who are perceived to have the strongest military might and apparently divide up their land:

39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain (Daniel 11:39).

The “he” above is referring to a European leader called the King of the North in that chapter (Daniel 11:40) and the Beast from the sea in Revelation 13:1-10). The strongest fortresses in the world belong to the USA and to a much lessor extent, its English-speaking allies (for a more detailed explanation of why the USA and its Anglo-allies are involved, as well as the dividing of their lands, please see Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel). This passage about the “strongest fortresses” in Daniel 11:39 cannot be referring to the continental Europeans as they support the King of the North, nor can it be referring to the Russians, Chinese, or other Asians as they do not get involved until verse 44 (see also The Eurasian Union, the Kings of the East, and Bible Prophecy).

In the 21st century, it must be a reference to the USA.

While the U.S.A., Australia, and others are currently worried mostly about China, the European developments will not be good for the Anglo-Saxon descended lands, including England.

Consider something from the Old Testament:

19 For the Lord brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel, for he had encouraged moral decline in Judah and had been continually unfaithful to the Lord. (2 Chronicles 28:19)

Might leaders like those in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand who seem to be encouraging biblically-moral declines cause their nations to be brought low?

The total destruction of the nation of the United States of America and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies is coming.

These lands needs national repentance to delay their coming destruction (cf. Daniel 4:27). Pray (1 Timothy 2:1-3; Matthew 6:9-13; Luke 21:36; Colossians 4:2).

The Europeans are rising up and technology, as I have long written, will be one of the keys to enable it to do so.

Despise not prophecies (1 Thessalonians 5:21).

The world order is changing, European technology is rising, and the USA will not be able to remain on top indefinitely.

Some wish to believe otherwise, but the USA’s rising debt and moral decline will help insure that.

Europe is rising and the plasma-fusion project is part of the proof that Europe intends to use technology to rise up.

Lady of Guadalupe impacted Western civilization

Friday, December 11th, 2015

‘Lady of Guadalupe,’ Santa Fe, New Mexico City (Photo by Joyce Thiel)

COGwriter

December 12th is designated by the Church of Rome as the memorial day for “Our Lady of Guadalupe.” Here is some additional information about it from a Catholic source:

Guadalupe is, strictly speaking, the name of a picture, but the name was extended to the church containing the picture and to the town that grew up around the church. It makes the shrine, it occasions the devotion, it illustrates Our Lady…

The word is Spanish Arabic, but in Mexico it may represent certain Aztec sounds.

Its tradition is long-standing and constant, and in sources both oral and written, Indian and Spanish, the account is unwavering. The Blessed Virgin appeared on Saturday 9 December 1531 to a 55 year old neophyte named Juan Diego, who was hurrying down Tepeyac hill to hear Mass in Mexico City. She sent him to Bishop Zumárraga to have a temple built where she stood. She was at the same place that evening and Sunday evening to get the bishop‘s answer. The bishop did not immediately believed the messenger, had him cross-examined and watched, and he finally told him to ask the lady who said she was the mother of the true God for a sign. The neophyte agreed readily to ask for sign desired, and the bishop released him.

Juan was occupied all Monday with Bernardino, an uncle, who was dying of fever. Indian medicine had failed, and Bernardino seemed at death‘s door. At daybreak on Tuesday 12 December 1531, Juan ran to nearby the Saint James convent for a priest. To avoid the apparition and the untimely message to the bishop, he slipped round where the well chapel now stands. But the Blessed Virgin crossed down to meet him…

Gathering many into the lap of his tilma, a long cloak or wrapper used by Mexican Indians, he came back. The Holy Mother rearranged the roses, and told him to keep them untouched and unseen until he reached the bishop. When he met with Zumárraga, Juan offered the sign to the bishop. As he unfolded his cloak the roses, fresh and wet with dew, fell out. Juan was startled to see the bishop and his attendants kneeling before him. The life size figure of the Virgin Mother, just as Juan had described her, was glowing on the tilma. The picture was venerated, guarded in the bishop‘s chapel, and soon after carried in procession to the preliminary shrine. (Our Lady of Guadalupe. http://saints.sqpn.com/our-lady-of-guadalupe/ viewed 11/30/13)

The above is one fancified account and somewhat inaccurate report about it. While it is true that the bishop did not believe it at first, he also correctly at first understood that this was some pagan apparition. Mary, the mother of Jesus, never appeared there, and even the Catholic priest in the region initially realized that.

But reports of this apparition did affect civilization.

Here are more details, this time from my book Fatima Shock!:

The Lady of Guadalupe: Aztec Connections

One of the most important claimed Marian apparitions is the appearance of one in Mexico known today as Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Antonio Socci reported:

The apparition of Guadalupe—according to the general acknowledgement of historians—was what attracted the Indians to Christianity. Therefore, it was precisely Guadalupe that gave birth to Latin American Christianity. (Socci A. The Fourth Secret of Fatima. Loreto Publications, English Translation 2009, p. 143)

Some, like Ted and Maureen Flynn, have gone so far as to state:

Our Lady of Guadalupe means, “She Who Crushes the Serpent.” (Flynn T, Flynn M. The Thunder of Justice. MaxKol Communications, Inc. Sterling (VA), 1993, p. 27)

But that seems to be a misunderstanding on their part. Dr. Jeanette Rodríguez, a Catholic scholar, wrote:

Juan Diego…said, “She calls herself ‘Tlecuauhtlacupeuh.’ ” To the Spaniards this sounded like “Guadalupe”…But the Nahuatl language does not contain the letters d and g; therefore our Lady’s name could not have been “Guadalupe”… The Nahuatl understanding of “Tlecuauhtlacupeuh” is La que viene volando de la luz como el áquila de fuego (she who comes flying like a region of light like an eagle of fire, Echeagaray 1981:21). The region of light was the dwelling place of the Aztec gods, and the eagle was a sign from the gods. (Rodriguez J. Our Lady of Guadalupe: faith and empowerment among Mexican-American women. University of Texas Press, 1994, pp. 45-46)

So, the Lady sounded a lot like an Aztec goddess.

Here are three online Catholic reports:

The appearance of Our Lady of Guadalupe to the Aztec Indian Juan Diego …generated the conversion of Mexico, Central and South America to Catholicism. (Our Lady of Guadalupe. http://www.maryourmother.net/ Guadalupe.html viewed 03/21/2011)

Our Lady of Guadalupe…appeared to an Aztec Indian…on Tepayac Hill, near Mexico City on December 9, 1531. (A PRAYER TO OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE. http://www.ourcatholicprayers.com/our-lady-of-guadalupe.html viewed 03/21/2011)

The Virgin of Guadalupe appeared in what is now Mexico City on the holy hill of Tepeyac, dedicated to Tonantzin, the Mother Earth goddess of the Aztecs. That is one reason why the bishop didn’t believe Juan Diego. He must have thought: “We know who appears on that mountain and it’s not the Virgin Mary but some pagan goddess!” Actually, the native Mexicans thought the same thing: “We know who appears on that hill: Tonantzin!” And so they referred to what we call ‘Virgin of Guadalupe’ as ‘Tonantzin’ for more than a century. To this day Mexicans know the Virgin if {sic} Guadalupe not as just another form of Mother Mary, but as a particularly Mexican Queen of Heaven. (Rozett E. Mother Mary and the Goddess. http://www.interfaithmary.com/pages/mary_goddess.html viewed 04/07/2011)

It has been claimed that “Tonantzin, the mother goddess of the Aztecs, then took the form of the Virgin Mary. Therefore Tonantzin was substituted…because of the necessity to convert to the Catholic religion under a new political regime.” (Breaux JJ. Intransigence & Indifference: Essays Concerning Religion and Spirituality. Lulu.com, 2008, p. 85)

Bernandino Sahagún, a Catholic missionary, wrote, “Now that the church of Our Lady of Guadalupe has been built the Indians call her Tonantzin…This is an abuse that should be stopped…The Indians today as, in the old days, come from afar to see this Tonantzin.”(Bernandino Sahagún, 1958 as cited in Smith JB. The image of Guadalupe, 2nd revised ed. Mercer University Press, 1994, p. 111) Though Tonantzin could have been more of a title than a name, she is sometimes known as Coatlique, the serpent skirt goddess. (Espinosa G, Garcia MT. Mexican American religions: spirituality, activism, and culture. Duke University Press, 2008, p. 161)

Over one hundred years ago, the following was written:

The Legend of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Over three hundred years ago, it is said, an Indian was walking near the hill of Guadalupe, when there appeared to him a dark-skinned maiden. She ordered him to go to the Bishop and tell him she desired to have a church built in her honor on that spot… The Mexicans believe that the Virgin is their only protector, and they pray, “Holy Mary, Mother of God, save us from the wrath of Christ. Holy Mary, Mother of God, save us from the wrath of Christ.” (Woman’s missionary friend, Volumes 41-42. Woman’s Foreign Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church, 1909. Original from the University of Michigan, Digitized Dec 10, 2008, p. 57)

Notice that the Lady wanted something built for her honor and many believed that it was through the Lady that they could be spared from Christ! The Bible shows it is Jesus who spares from the wrath to come (1 Thessalonians 1:10), not Mary. Thus, it could not have been a visit from Mary of the Bible. Furthermore, the Bible repeatedly mentions that God is merciful (e.g. James 5:11), but sacred scripture never specifically mentions that that any should go to Mary for mercy. The fact that at least one account states that the Lady had dark-skin (she has also been called the “mestiza Virgin”: Anderson C, Chávez E. Our Lady of Guadalupe: Mother of the Civilization of Love. Random House Digital, Inc., 2009, p. 79) and “Indian Virgin”: Rodriguez, p. 45) suggests that she did not look the same as certain other apparitions many later claimed to be Mary.

Why report any of this?

Because just like the Lady of Guadalupe (who could not have been Mary) was used to convert much of Latin America to a form of Catholicism, it is likely that a future apparition will be used to convert people in the end times to an ecumenical form of “Catholicism.” People need to be warned about this.

So, just one ‘Marian apparition’ has been claimed to have been effective in turning Latin America predominantly Roman Catholic–this profoundly affected those cultures and the world. What will happen if some type of ‘Marian apparition’ is seen and even shown on media like television and/or the internet?

It has been my contention for several years, after searching the scriptures and studying history, that one or more apparitions believed to be Jesus’ mother ‘Mary” will be seen by the general public. Will not many be deceived by this? The Bible is clear that massive deception is coming (Matthew 24:24; 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12). Pope Francis has been encouraging Marian devotion through his words and actions. Even Russia’s President Putin has joined in (Russia’s Putin and Pope Francis both kiss Marian icon). Increased acceptance of non-biblical views of Mary are affecting people.

Here is some of what Pope Francis has said:

MESSAGE TO THE AMERICAS for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe…the Patroness of the Americas. I would like to greet all my brothers and sisters on that continent, and I do so thinking of the Virgin of Tepeyac…

When the image of the Virgin appeared on the tilma of Juan Diego, it was the prophecy of an embrace: Mary’s embrace of all the peoples of the vast expanses of America – the peoples who already lived there, and those who were yet to come…I ask all the people of the Americas to open wide their arms, like the Virgin, with love and tenderness. http://en.radiovaticana.va/news/2013/12/11/pope_francis_sends_message_to_the_americas/en1-754682

So, Pope Francis is calling for all to turn to his version of Mary and hopes others will in the future.

Even in New York City, the Guadalupe adoration is being promoted:

STATEN ISLAND, N. Y. — A mass celebrated in Spanish by Bishop Gerald Walsh, vicar general of the Archdiocese of New York, will be the highlight of a celebration on Thursday in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the Americas and the Mexican people, at Holy Rosary Parish in South Beach.

The day will begin with the traditional Mananitas, which is the early morning serenading of the statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe, at 6:30 am in the parish mission church on Sand Lane. A procession with the statue of Our Lady will begin in the mission church at 6:45 p.m. and proceed to the main church at 80 Jerome Avenue. http://www.silive.com/news/index.ssf/2013/12/post_642.html

Notice that people serenade an idol, and that this is encouraged by Roman Bishops. People are somewhat getting prepared for more Marian veneration. Perhaps I should mention here that the “rosary” alleged entered the Church of Rome from someone who claimed that he got it from a claimed Marian apparition. ‘Marion apparitions’ have affected humanity and may have even greater impact in the not-so-distance future.

Partially, to see how modern people view apparitions (as part of my book research) my wife and I went to Fatima, Portugal. While at Fatima I was surprised by the size of its entire sanctuary complex, but not the vast amount of visitors which came. My wife Joyce and I saw thousands of visitors in Fatima on May 29, 2011. And that is much less than the amount who tend to show up there on May 13 and October 13 (the anniversary days of the first and last appearance of the apparition) each year. Millions visit Fatima, Portugal each year, with the vast majority of them believing that Mary actually appeared there (though the apparition in Fatima never actually identified herself as Mary, nor based upon its appearance could it possibly have been).  My wife and I also visited the oldest “Guadalupe” church in the USA in 2015 and reviewed various teaching that church claims about it.

It is remains my position that it is very likely that apparitions that people will claim will be Mary, the mother of Jesus, will be part of the signs and lying wonders that are mentioned in 2 Thessalonians 2:9 and Matthew 24:24 (cf. Isaiah 47; Nahum 3:4-5).

The current Marian focused Pope Francis, as well as somewhat like-minded bishops, will likely be a factor in this. The ‘success’ of the ‘Lady of Guadalupe’ should serve as a warning to all that the world can be highly affected by apparitions that some will falsely believe are Mary, the mother of Jesus.

Islamic State’s ‘Armageddon’ plan to destroy Rome and the West

The Islamic State released a new video:

New ISIS Video Shows Armageddon Battle With the West

December 11, 2015

A new video purportedly released by the Islamic State titled “See You in Dabiq” or “Meeting at Dabiq” depicts ISIS militants fighting “non-believers” in Rome. “Dabiq” is also the name of the Islamic State magazine and refers to a place in Syria where Islamic eschatological prophecy claims “Armageddon,” or “Malahim” in Islam, will take place.

The Clarion Project writes:

Dabiq is a place in Syria that is supposed to be the location for one of the final battles according to certain Muslim myths about a final apocalypse. Choosing such a name for the magazine highlights the caliphate’s goals.

In the video, tanks can be seen driving towards the Colosseum crumbled in the sand. Footage then cuts to outside buildings of the Italian capital, before zeroing in on the Vatican. …

The film’s dialogue makes claims that the “Dabiq Army” will race into Rome, destroy crucifixes, and enslave Christian women. http://heavy.com/news/2015/12/new-isis-islamic-state-news-video-see-you-in-dabiq-rome-muslim-extremists-rome-crusaders-colosseum-malahim-meeting-at-dabiq-italy-west-war-uncensored-full-youtube/

ISIS release chilling new ‘end of the world’ video showing final battle with ‘crusaders

December 11, 2015

The terror group have released footage showing an ISIS ‘armoured vehicle advancing towards Colosseum in reference to the ‘armies of Rome’

ISIS has released chilling new footage depicting its apocalyptic vision of the end of the world.

It has titled the video ‘Meeting at Dabiq’ which refers to the location of a final battle between the ‘Crusaders’ and the ‘Believers’.

The video also shows an ISIS ‘armoured unit’ advancing towards the Colosseum in reference to the ‘armies of Rome’.

In the footage the terrorist organisation shows a dead fighter being kissed by his comrades, a Jihadi on horseback trying to look like a honourable soldier and groups of men with the majority too scared to show their faces to the camera.

The propaganda video then shows a convoy of cars driving at sunset, before switching to a man raising the black and white flag of ISIS.

Destruction of the Church of Rome has long been a major goal of those in the so-called Islamic State.  It has made other videos threatening other cities and countries.  One even warns Russia “your time is coming” and “it will be the worst.”  The Islamic State has made various threats against the USA.

But Rome is one place it really wants to hit big-time, as it seemingly believes that would really drive up its support.

As far as ‘Armageddon’ goes, that is a place I have actually visited and that is not near Rome (watch also Armageddon).

As far as the Crusades go, many Muslims, including multiple millions which do not support the Islamic State, still are appalled by the Crusades that the Church of Rome called for centuries ago.

Popes, with support sometimes from the Eastern Orthodox Patriarchs, called for the Crusades which killed Muslims and eventually others:

Urban’s main achievement was convoking the Council of Clermont, November 1095, which called the First Crusade. The Byzantine Emperor, Alexius Commenus, had sent a desperate appeal to Urban for armed knights to defend Christianity against the Moslem enemy. When the Pope laid the Emperor’s pleas before the knights in Clermont, the main concern of the noblemen there was not so much the defense of Byzantium as the rescue of the Holy land from Moslem domination. Palestine had been under Moslem control since the days of the Caliph Omar, but at least the Arab Moslems had allowed Christian pilgrims to visit the places made sacred by the life of Christ. The SeIjuk Turks, now the dominant Moslem power, had, on the other hand, closed off the Holy Land.

Thus the Pope concluded his speech to the council with these words: “Men of God, men chosen and blessed among all, combine your forces! Take the road to the Holy Sepulcher assured of the imperishable glory that awaits you in God’s kingdom. Let each one deny himself and take the Cross!” With a shout — “God wills it” — the Assembly rose. They adopted a red cross as their emblem, and within a few hours no more red material remained in the town because the knights had cut it all up into crosses to be sewn on their sleeves. Because of their emblem (crux is the Latin word for cross) they were given the name Crusaders. (Carrol A. The Crusades. Catholic Education Resource Center. http://catholiceducation.org/articles/history/world/wh0010.html viewed 07/27/14)

Decrees of Pope Urban II at the Council of Clermont, 1095… He established and decreed that knights and footmen, that is whoever were able to go to deliver Jerusalem and the other churches of Asia from the power of the pagans, for the love of God and to obtain remission of all their sins, should set forth with one soul, bearing arms, and he decreed that in their property until their return unbroken peace and security should be observed. At the same time he provided that all who went there should bear the sign of the cross marked on the garments on their shoulders or on their forehead, whereby they would show the piety and pilgrimage of so great a journey and be impeded by no one. All those who were present, hearing such a good and desirable edict, lifted their voices to the heaven in ovation, shouting altogether again and again : God wills it, God wills it, God wills it. (Decrees of Pope Urban II at the Council of Clermont, 1095. In a Historia peregrinorum at Monte Cassino is contained an amplified version of the Cencius-Baluze text (p. 124n.) Translated from Robert Somerville, The Councils of Urban II. vol 1, DECRETA CLAROMONTENSIA, Amsterdam 1972. http://falcon.arts.cornell.edu/prh3/259/texts/clermont.html viewed 07/27/14)

The Crusades were expeditions undertaken, in fulfilment of a solemn vow, to deliver the Holy Places from Mohammedan tyranny. The origin of the word may be traced to the cross made of cloth and worn as a badge on the outer garment of those who took part in these enterprises. Medieval writers use the terms crux (pro cruce transmarina, Charter of 1284, cited by Du Cange s.v. crux), croisement (Joinville), croiserie (Monstrelet), etc. Since the Middle Ages the meaning of the word crusade has been extended to include all wars undertaken in pursuance of a vow, and directed against infidels, i.e. against Mohammedans, pagans, heretics, or those under the ban of excommunication… the extermination of the Albigensian heresy was due to a crusade (Bréhier, Louis. “Crusades.” The Catholic Encyclopedia. Vol. 4. New York: Robert Appleton Company, 1908. 27 Jul. 2014 <http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/04543c.htm>)

As the above indicates, it was not just Muslims that the Catholics of Rome made war against.

The Albigenses were pacifists, but they and those who sometimes failed to not turn them in to Catholic authorities were often killed. Notice what a former Roman Catholic priest reported:

It has been reckoned that in the last and most savage persecution under Emperor Diocletian about two thousand Christians perished, worldwide. In the first incident of Pope Innocent’s Crusade ten times that number of people were slaughtered. Not all were Albigensians. It comes as a shock to discover that, at a stroke, a pope killed far more Christians than Diocletian (De Rosa, Peter. Vicars of Christ. Poolberg Press, Dublin, 2000, pp. 160-161).

(The entire persecution that Roman Emperor Diocletian unleashed lasted from 303-313 A.D; the inquisition-persecution that Innocent III unleashed lasted hundreds of years.)

Notice this account in the thirteenth century:

After this, the Crusaders moved to Lavaur…Afterwards, 400 perfecti were led out of town and burned in a vast funeral pyre. Vaux de Cernay put on record for the pope’s benefit: ‘Cum ingenti gaudio combusserunt’, ‘They set them alight with immense joy’. They were relaxed knowing they had his Holiness’s blessing.

Only one of the perfecti renounced his faith. They were pacifists. They died with dignity (De Rosa, Peter. Vicars of Christ. Poolberg Press, Dublin, 2000, p. 161).

It is sad that those killing pacifists believed that the pope’s approval meant that persecution and murder was appropriate. Nowhere in my Bible do I see any verse suggesting that real Christians were ever to become murderous persecutors. Actually, the 30 times in the New Testament the NKJV translators used the terms persecute, persecuted, persecution, those terms refer to something happening to Christians–not the other way around (have they not read “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you,” in Matthew 5:11?).

Of course, the true Christians (and some who were not Christian) did not accept papal views on violence–they remembered what the Bible taught. And the position of the true Church of God has not changed throughout the centuries (see also Military Service and the Churches of God: Do Real Christians Participate in Carnal Warfare or Encourage Violence?).

However, most in Islam consider all the professed Christian faiths to be apostate and ‘Christian.’  That being said, I should add that I have never encountered a Muslim who appeared violent to me, and all of my experiences with Muslims I have spoken with, and also emailed, have been positive. But there are serious issues in that faith.

The Bible prophesies “terrors” (Deuteronomy 32:29, etc.) and shows that problems will come from those in nations currently dominated by Islam (Psalm 83:2-7).  This will include terror hitting places far from Europe such as the USA and Canada.

It is basically because of the threat of Islamic terrorism that the Vatican implemented massive security procedures.  The first couple of times my wife and I were in Vatican City (late 1980s), we just walked in and then walked into St. Peter’s Basilica.  Later, we had to walk through a metal detector.  More recently, there is normally a very long security line, where they also screen and/or look into your bags.  The line takes a very long time, but the Vatican is concerned.

The Vatican well realizes that many in Islam want it destroyed.  Yet, Islam will NOT completely destroy the Church of Rome.

The Church of Rome is destroyed later according to biblical (Revelation 17:16-18) and Catholic prophecy (see The Malachy Prophecies and “Peter the Roman”)–and it comes from a European source (Revelation 17:12-18) as well as any remains from Jesus (Revelation 11:15, 17:14).

That does NOT mean there will be no terrorism to hit Rome and/or Vatican City (I expect it).  It just means that the true destruction of the Church of Rome will NOT be from Islam.  While some of the Islamic States claims are hollow, expect Islamic-linked destruction coming to parts of Europe, including Italy and even places like Germany.

Role of Pope Francis ‘transformative’ for COP21 climate change conference

The Vatican has been active, mainly behind the scenes, in the climate change conference taking place in Paris:

Role of Pope Francis ‘transformative’ at Paris COP21 climate summit

December 11, 2015

(Vatican Radio) As negotiations come to a close in Paris on climate change, Vatican Radio spoke with Dr Alison Doig of Christian Aid for her impressions on the event. She has been in Paris attending the talks for the past two weeks and is optimistic about what will be achieved in the final agreement.  …

A critical issue for developing nations is to find ways of dealing financially with the adverse effects of climate change, especially for those countries unable to adapt.

Finally, she said that the mood brought to the conference by Pope Francis has been “transformative” and “wonderful” especially since the publication of Laudato Sì and that there is a momentum of support from the wider faith community. http://en.radiovaticana.va/news/2015/12/11/role_of_pope_francis_%E2%80%9Ctransformative%E2%80%9D_at_paris_cop21/1193598

December 10, 2015

Pope Francis released his Laudato Si, On Care for Our Common Homein June, and Church officials have been spreading the word about this climate change and environmental protection teaching document ever since — from America to Africa, and now to the UN Climate Summit in Paris. The Catholic Church has a major delegation at the event.

“We are seeking to be a kind of catalyst,” said Cardinal Peter Turkson of Ghana, the head of the Pontifical Council on Justice and Peace, in an exclusive interview with mongabay.com. “This is already happening. We have spoken at world events. We have encouraged bishops in different countries to take the message to their heads of state. Our hope as we came to Paris was that those leaders would feel our moral support and trust.”

The impact of those urgings on the COP21 negotiations is difficult to assess. The four-person delegation from the Holy See, which kept a low profile until Tuesday, has been able to sit in on all negotiations. …

Pope watchers say that Francis, while not leading the debate in Paris, has used his unprecedented encyclical — the first ever on a non-religious topic — to help pave the way for successful climate talks.

Recognizing a vacuum in global leadership in aggressively attacking and reducing carbon emissions, Francis — one of the most popular and influential leaders on earth — wanted to establish a moral presence at COP21 to remind policy makers that he himself expects them to achieve their best.  …

Pope Francis and his delegation in Paris are clearly playing a long game, recognizing it will take years for the encyclical to become as ingrained as other church teachings… http://news.mongabay.com/2015/12/vatican-presses-cop21-negotiators-for-strong-climate-agreement/

So, while Pope Francis did not personally attend, he sent people, and because of his Laudato Si encyclical, had influence.  It should also be mentioned that Pope Francis gave the key note event for the adoption of the New Universal Agenda at the United Nations this past September.  “Climate change” was a big part of that as well.

Many world leaders believe that it will be international human cooperation that will bring a clean environment, peace, and prosperity.  They do not believe it will take the Kingdom of God to make that happen. They, however, also like the Vatican’s involvement as it can influence many of the world’s 1.2 billion alleged Roman Catholics, as well as others in other faiths.

And while the Vatican and world leaders will have some temporal successes (cf. Daniel 9:27), they will not only not succeed.  Their human efforts will ultimately bring planet Earth to the point that it would make life unsustainable if Jesus did not return to establish His Kingdom. What world leaders are often proclaiming in their international agendas is a false gospel. Many in the world are trying to put together a semi-religious Babylonian international plan to put in a new world order in the 21st century.

Beyond “climate” matters, what the Vatican is doing is making key allies around the world, and in particular in Europe, that it will be able to influence more in the future.  We are seeing more interaction and cooperation between the City of Seven Hills (Revelation 17:9) and the kings of this world (Revelation 17:1-2) consistent with biblical prophecies in Revelation 17:1-13.

Mystery Babylon the Great (Revelation 17:5) is gaining momentum, and the “climate change” agenda is one of the ways those associated with the “great city” (Revelation 17:18) have been doing this in 2015.

Muslims Protesting before Danish Embassy in London (2006)

COGwriter

Facebook removed some photos and a post uploaded by radio host Michael Savage:

December 10, 2015

Talk-radio host Michael Savage thought that amid a fierce national debate on whether or not to allow Muslims to immigrate to the United States, it would be worth considering what has been happening in Europe.

So, he posted on his Facebook page photographs of the Feb. 3, 2006, demonstration outside the Embassy of Denmark in London. The focus of protest was the publication of editorial cartoons depicting Muhammad in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten. Snopes.com verified that the photographs were taken at the London demonstration, with the exception of one, which was from a protest in the English city of Luton.

Facebook has not explained why it deleted the post, but it provided a link to its “Community Standards” page, which lists “hate speech” as one of its prohibitions, along with “violence and graphic content,” and nudity.

Messages in placards held up by the London demonstrators included “Behead those who insult Islam,” “Freedom go to hell,” “Europe. Take some lessons from 9/11″ and “Be prepared for the real Holocaust.”

The Facebook post on Savage’s page included text from an email that has circulated for many years:

Why would anyone think that we should be at war with such nice, peaceful Muslims?!

You need to forward this one to everyone! These pictures tell it all!

Muslims have stated that England will be the first country they take over!

These are pictures not shown on American TV or in American Newspapers – WHY?!

They were forwarded by a Canadian friend who thought ALL Americans ought to know!

The question is whether the Facebook violation was because of the hate speech exhibited by the Muslim protesters in the photographs or because of the act of posting the photographs and the text.

Savage suspects it was the latter. http://www.wnd.com/2015/12/facebook-censors-michael-savage-post-of-muslims-protesting/#2H1D5hWuSZtRb0Dr.99

Back in 2009, Michael Savage was banned from going to the UK:

December 11, 2015

2009: Controversial American ‘shock jock’ radio presenter Michael Savage was barred from entering the UK.  Savage said: ‘You know, when I see a woman walking around with a burqa, I see a Nazi.’ He has called the Koran ‘a book of hate’ and added that some Muslims, at least, ‘need deportation’. The Right-wing radio presenter’s hardline views on Islam, rape and autism have also caused outrage in the US. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3355449/He-just-doesn-t-know-stop-Donald-Trump-claims-Muslims-join-ISIS-British-Army.html#ixzz3u1RV3t8e

I reported some of Michael Savage’s views on what Islam was doing last month (see Michael Savage: ‘A dance of death in the West’).

Anyone willing to look at what the Qur’an and Islamic tradition teaches, realizes that there is a lot of violence in Islam.  Plus this is NOT limited to just a few Muslims.

Consider the following two reports:

June 25, 2015

The Center for Security Policy (CSP) has released the results of a poll showing alarmingly high levels of support for sharia law and violence among the American Muslim community.

According to the nationwide survey, “significant minorities embrace supremacist notions that could pose a threat to America’s security and its constitutional form of government.”

A majority (51 percent) of Muslims surveyed said they “should have the choice of being governed according to shariah.”

Almost 30 percent of American Muslims believe it is legitimate to use violence “against those that insult the prophet Muhammad, the Qur’an, or Islamic faith.”

One quarter of Muslims said that “violence against Americans here in the United States can be justified as part of the global jihad.”

Even more ominous, “nearly one-fifth of Muslim respondents said that the use of violence in the United States is justified in order to make shariah the law of the land in this country,” the CSP polling data showed. http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2015/06/poll_shows_high_levels_of_support_for_shariah_law_and_violence_among_american_muslims.html#ixzz3trmaHwv3

Despite the fact some political factions, both right and left, across the U.S. have dubbed Islam a religion of peace, new research from a Danish expert confirms that it is, in fact, violent.

The conclusion was noted in a report at Jihad Watch, which monitors the toll of the religion of Muhammad.

“Together with a number of research assistants, the Danish linguist Tina Magaard spent three years examining the texts of the 10 largest religions,” explained Nicolai Sennels on the Jihad Watch site. “The conclusion was clear: ‘The texts of Islam [are] clearly distinct from the other religions’ texts as [they include] a higher degree call for violence and aggression against followers of other faiths.’

“There are also direct incitement[s] to terror … Moreover, in the Quran [there are] hundreds of invitations to fight against people of other faiths.”

The author of that study, Christian Pfeiffer, from a criminal research institute in Lower Saxony, said even when other social factors are taken into account, there remained a significant correlation between “religiosity and readiness to use violence.”

“The fact that Islam is the world’s most violent religion is most likely the reason why Muslims since September 11, 2011, [have] committed more than 27,000 deadly terrorist attacks in the name of Islam. This corresponds to approximately 2,000 a year or five a day,” Jihad Watch said.

The report cited thereligionofpeace.com website, which has documented Islam-related violence since the terror attacks on New York and Washington.

“Another fact is that the number of Muslims in the Western world is increasing dramatically and that they are becoming still more religious: 75 percent of Muslims inside Europe think that the texts of the world’s most violent religion must be taken literal,” the report said.

Jihad Watch noted 80 percent of young Turks in Holland “see ‘nothing wrong’ in waging jihad against non-Muslims.” http://www.wnd.com/2015/11/danish-researcher-islam-is-more-violent/#KwckR1ImEMTP5JPB.99

So, both in Europe and in the United States, there are MILLIONS of Muslims that openly admit that they support violence against the West.

More terrorism will hit the USA, Canada, the UK, and continental Europe (see Why Terrorism? Is Terrorism Prophesied?).

But the other issue to bring up, and is why I decided to make this post, is that there is censorship on the internet. YouTube recently, as well as improperly in my view, censored a Protestant YouTube channel (see YouTube censorship of Protestant channel).

Now Facebook got directly involved with censorship.

Here are some of Facebook’s policies from its Community Standard’s pages:

We remove content, disable accounts, and work with law enforcement when we believe there is a genuine risk of physical harm or direct threats to public safety. …

People use Facebook to share their experiences and to raise awareness about issues that are important to them. This means that you may encounter opinions that are different from yours, which we believe can lead to important conversations about difficult topics. To help balance the needs, safety, and interests of a diverse community, however, we may remove certain kinds of sensitive content or limit the audience that sees it.

While the above may seem reasonable to many, the reality is that internet censorship is a real threat as how the above is interpreted can lead to inappropriate censorship.  This censorship issue is so serious that we in the Continuing Church of God decided, because of the YouTube incident, to come up with an alternative to YouTube if we were faced with its censorship.

The USA no longer has the type of ‘freedom of religion’ or ‘freedom of speech’ its founders envisioned. And while neither Facebook or YouTube are part of the government of the USA, they do not support the agenda or the morality of the Bible.

The time will come when the USA, and likely some private companies, will apparently stop the efforts of websites like this one. As well as our numerous video channels on the internet.

Consider the following prophecy:

13 Therefore the prudent keep silent at that time, For it is an evil time. (Amos 5:13)

The above indicates that even those that are doing nothing wrong will need to be silent at the coming evil time.

Yet, currently, it is still time to:

1 Cry aloud, spare not;
Lift up your voice like a trumpet;
Tell My people their transgression,
And the house of Jacob their sins. (Isaiah 58:1)

Which is what we in the Continuing Church of God are doing. We have denounced, not only sins that the world sometimes seems to consider politically correct, but also sins that many claimed COGs will not do, because of their own concerns about their political fates and/or fates that could happen if they offended their financial supporters if they told the truth to truly fulfill Isaiah 58:1.

For years, this website has warned of civil unrest in Europe and the USA and has mentioned that Islamic issues will be a factor in both those regions.

Many in and out of the government have plans and are watching the internet with plans to deal with materials that they some day hope to silence.

Notice the following from the Bible:

1 Hear my voice, O God, in my meditation;
Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
2 Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked,
From the rebellion of the workers of iniquity,
3 Who sharpen their tongue like a sword,
And bend their bows to shoot their arrows — bitter words,
4 That they may shoot in secret at the blameless;
Suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear.

5 They encourage themselves in an evil matter;
They talk of laying snares secretly;
They say, “Who will see them?”
6 They devise iniquities:
“We have perfected a shrewd scheme.”
Both the inward thought and the heart of man are deep. (Psalms 64:1-6)

And while you might think that if you have done nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear from surveillance, consider that many in the government of the USA consider that not supporting homosexual marriages, etc. are extremist. I also saw someone once on a documentary that stated that people who believed in the millennium could not be trusted and should be considered as potential terrorists. The fact that we in the Continuing Church of God would be considered pacifists, does not change the fact that since we hold to millennial and other biblical views that we will not be improperly classified by government employees with various agendas.

The Prophet Amos was inspired to record the following:

11 “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God,
“That I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine of bread,
Nor a thirst for water,
But of hearing the words of the Lord.
12 They shall wander from sea to sea,
And from north to east;
They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the Lord,
But shall not find it. (Amos 8:11-12)

Notice that the Bible tells of a time that will come when the word of God will not be found. And that would seem to be because truth from it will be taken off the internet. In the 21st century, the internet is accessed by people in every country, and thus some type of internet restriction/suspension/site removal is coming.

We are getting closer to this time.

That is part of why we in the Continuing Church of God are preparing for the ‘short work’ (Romans 9:28) and the coming ‘famine of the word.’

Despite Facebook’s attempts to cover it up, the reality is that without repentance by millions of Muslims, more Islamic terrorism will come.  And, despite the first amendment to the US Constitution, more censorship on the internet.

TRANSFORMED FROM TRUTH

Worldwide Church of God Transformed from Truth to Fairy Tales

COGwriter

Sometime back, I received an email from GCI (Grace Communion International, essentially the group that originally ran the new Worldwide Church of God) today with a link to a letter and a video message from its J. Tkach. The letter starts out with:

The Christmas season is here again, and you know what that means: Christmas cards!

The video message from J. Tkach concluded with:

During this season of Advent as we move toward the celebration of Christ’s birth, I want to personally wish you: “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding…” (Philippians 4:7).

I’m Joseph Tkach, Speaking of LIFE.

No, most people do not use the term “Advent” to refer to the December celebration of Saturnalia that most people now call “Christmas.” Partially because of sensitivities of some of its members, J. Tkach has tended not often to use the term Christmas, though this seems to be changing. The old WCG taught strongly against the observation of Christmas.  It also did not observe Christmas nor encourage substitute words to celebrate it nor endorse Christmas cards.

But ignoring Christmas/Advent semantics, while Jesus was born, the real evidence is that He was not born in December. Nor did early followers of Christ either celebrate the day of His birth, nor, when the compromisers got more influence, did those that did originally celebrate it in December.

By the end of the second century, some of the compromisers did celebrate something in the late December time period, but it had nothing to do with Jesus’ birth.

Notice what Tertullian wrote (late 2nd early 3rd century) about winter celebrations, such as Saturnalia (from a pagan deity whose name meant plentiful):

The Minervalia are as much Minerva’s, as the Saturnalia Saturn’s; Saturn’s, which must necessarily be celebrated even by little slaves at the time of the Saturnalia. New-year’s gifts likewise must be caught at, and the Septimontium kept; and all the presents of Midwinter and the feast of Dear Kinsmanship must be exacted; the schools must be wreathed with flowers; the flamens’ wives and the aediles sacrifice; the school is honoured on the appointed holy-days. The same thing takes place on an idol’s birthday; every pomp of the devil is frequented. Who will think that these things are befitting to a Christian master, unless it be he who shall think them suitable likewise to one who is not a master? (Tertullian. On Idolatry, Chapter X. Translated by S. Thelwall. Excerpted from Ante-Nicene Fathers, Volume 3. Edited by Alexander Roberts and James Donaldson. American Edition, 1885. Online Edition Copyright © 2004 by K. Knight).

But, however, the majority (of Christians) have by this time induced the belief in their mind that it is pardonable if at any time they do what the heathen do, for fear “the Name be blasphemed”…To live with heathens is lawful, to die with them is not. Let us live with all; let us be glad with them, out of community of nature, not of superstition. We are peers in soul, not in discipline; fellow-possessors of the world, not of error. But if we have no right of communion in matters of this kind with strangers, how far more wicked to celebrate them among brethren! Who can maintain or defend this?…By us,…the Saturnalia and New-year’s and Midwinter’s festivals and Matronalia are frequented–presents come and go–New-year’s gifts–games join their noise–banquets join their din! Oh better fidelity of the nations to their own sect, which claims no solemnity of the Christians for itself!…Not the Lord’s day, not Pentecost, even it they had known them, would they have shared with us; for they would fear lest they should seem to be Christians. We are not apprehensive lest we seem to be heathens! (Tertullian. On Idolatry, Chapter XIV. Translated by S. Thelwall. Excerpted from Ante-Nicene Fathers, Volume 3. Edited by Alexander Roberts and James Donaldson. American Edition, 1885. Online Edition Copyright © 2004 by K. Knight).

But “let your works shine,” saith He; but now all our shops and gates shine! You will now-a-days find more doors of heathens without lamps and laurel-wreaths than of Christians. What does the case seem to be with regard to that species (of ceremony) also? If it is an idol’s honour, without doubt an idol’s honour is idolatry. If it is for a man’s sake, let us again consider that all idolatry is for man’s sake; let us again consider that all idolatry is a worship done to men, since it is generally agreed even among their worshippers that aforetime the gods themselves of the nations were men; and so it makes no difference whether that superstitious homage be rendered to men of a former age or of this. Idolatry is condemned, not on account of the persons which are set up for worship, but on account of those its observances, which pertain to demons (Tertullian. On Idolatry, Chapter XV. Translated by S. Thelwall. Excerpted from Ante-Nicene Fathers, Volume 3. Edited by Alexander Roberts and James Donaldson. American Edition, 1885. Online Edition Copyright © 2004 by K. Knight).

What Tertullian seems to be saying is that observing mid-winter celebrations make Christians appear to be followers of pagan gods, and since the pagans would not intentionally celebrate days considered by many to be Christian, Christians should not celebrate days that are honored by the heathen. Specifically, he felt that those who profess Christ should not celebrate Saturnalia, New Year’s, or other pagan days, as even the observance is a form of idolatry (click here for an article titled Is January 1st a Date for Christians Celebrate?). He also suggested that his type of “Christian” was more pagan than the average pagan. Interesting.

Since the modern Christmas celebration is at the same time as the old Gentile Saturnalia holiday (and with many of the same elements, like wreaths and gift-giving), it is clear that Tertullian is condemning these practices by stating that those that keep it are of the pagan god Saturn. He also wrote against winter giving:

…gifts like those you have in the Saturnalia! (Tertullian. De Fuga in Persecutione, Chapter 13. Excerpted from Ante-Nicene Fathers, Volume 4. Edited by Alexander Roberts & James Donaldson. American Edition, 1885. Online Edition Copyright © 2004 by K. Knight).

So basically, those who teach “Jesus is the reason for the season” are in error. The reason for the season appears to be that those who professed ‘Christianity’ wanted to have a party. And did not care if the party was related to pagan gods.

It is interesting to note that Tertullian objected to keeping a celebration lasting until the Roman New Years, putting up wreaths, and giving gifts. Since most of these quotes come from his writing titles “On Idolatry” apparently he considered those practices as idolatrous.

It seems to me that no true Christians would do this, only those who were somewhat nominal, but who had been accepted, to some degree, by part of the Greco-Roman confederation. His complaints apparently did not stop this from happening, though his objections certainly have biblical support.

Oddly, although he endorsed Christmas (which included traces of pagan worship), Archbishop of Constantinople John Chrysostom (who condemned people for keeping God’s Holy Days in the fourth century) wrote the following in the late fourth century:

And what, pray you, is that Minerva of theirs, and Apollo, and Juno ? They are different kinds of demons among them. (Chrysostom J. The homilies of S. John Chrysostom, Archbishop of Constantinople: on the Acts of the Apostles, Volume 1, Homily IV. John Henry Parker, 1851. Original from Harvard University. Digitized, Apr 12, 2008, p. 66)

Venerable Cesare Baronius, a Catholic of the 16th century, wrote:

If the candles which were formerly distributed at the Saturnalia are now identified with the feast of the Purification of our Lady? What, I ask, is there so surprising if holy bishops have allowed certain customs firmly rooted among pagan peoples, and so tenaciously adhered to by them that even after their conversion to Christianity they could not be induced to surrender them, to be transferred to the worship of the true God?” (Baronius, “Annales”, ad ann. 58, n. 77). (as cited in Thurston, Herbert. “Lights.” The Catholic Encyclopedia. Vol. 9. Nihil Obstat. October 1, 1910. Remy Lafort, Censor. Imprimatur. +John M. Farley, Archbishop of New York. New York: Robert Appleton Company, 1910. 21 Dec. 2009 <http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/09244b.htm>)

Thus, Baronius seems to be saying that Saturnalia lights are a pagan practice, yet using them is acceptable.

But even the Rheims‘ version of the New Testament (a Catholic approved translation) states the following:

15. And what agreement with Christ and Belial? or what part hath the faithful with the infidel?
16. And what agreement hath the temple of God with Idols? For you are the temple of the living God. as God saith, Then I will dwell, and walk in them, and will be their God: and they shall be my people.
17. For the which cause, Go out of the midst of them, and separate yourselves. saith our Lord, and touch not the unclean: and I will receive you (2 Corinthians 6:15-17, The Original And True Rheims New Testament Of Anno Domini 1582. Prepared and Edited by Dr. William von Peters, Ph.D. Copyright © 1998, Dr. William G. von Peters. Ph.D. 2004, copyright assigned to VSC Corp.).

So unclean practices associated with idols are prohibited by God. Does not that include celebrating as the idolaters celebrate?

The Catholic Encyclopedia teaches that:

Christmas was not among the earliest festivals of the Church (Martindale C. Transcribed by Susanti A. Suastika. Christmas. The Catholic Encyclopedia, Volume III. Copyright © 1908 by Robert Appleton Company. Online Edition Copyright © 2003 by K. Knight. Nihil Obstat, November 1, 1908. Remy Lafort, S.T.D., Censor. Imprimatur. +John Cardinal Farley, Archbishop of New York).

The above is true.

Why did Christmas end up on December 25th?

Probably because that was the day of celebration of the birthday of the sun-god Mithra. December 25th also took place during the Saturnalia, hence it was acceptable to at least two groups of pagans. Followers of Mithra represented an influential group in the Roman Empire. Other practices associated with Mithraism have become part of the Roman and Orthodox Catholic churches (such as their communion services) (for more details, please check out the documented article Do You Practice Mithraism?).

Notice the following:

Mithraism A pagan religion consisting mainly of the cult of the ancient Indo-Iranian Sun-god Mithra. It entered Europe from Asia Minor after Alexander’s conquest, spread rapidly over the whole Roman Empire at the beginning of our era, reached its zenith during the third century, and vanished under the repressive regulations of Theodosius at the end of the fourth century…Helios Mithras is one god…Sunday was kept holy in honour of Mithra, and the sixteenth of each month was sacred to him as mediator. The 25 December was observed as his birthday, the natalis invicti, the rebirth of the winter-sun, unconquered by the rigours of the season (Arendzen. J.P. Transcribed by John Looby. Mithraism. The Catholic Encyclopedia, Volume X. Published 1911. New York: Robert Appleton Company. Nihil Obstat, October 1, 1911. Remy Lafort, S.T.D., Censor. Imprimatur. +John Cardinal Farley, Archbishop of New York).

Until the Council of Nicea, the December 25th Christmas holiday was not even accepted by the Roman Catholics.

The World Book Encyclopedia notes,

In 354 A.D., Bishop Liberius of Rome ordered the people to celebrate on December 25. He probably chose this date because the people of Rome already observed it as the Feast of Saturn, celebrating the birthday of the sun (Sechrist E.H. Christmas. World Book Encyclopedia, Volume 3. Field Enterprises Educational Corporation, Chicago, 1966, pp. 408-417).

It needs to be understood that some scholarly sources believe that the celebration in Rome of Christmas may have began 2-3 decades earlier (because Constantine kept it on 12/25 in 336 A.D.), but none I am aware of suggest it was prior to Constantine in the fourth century.

There have been scholars who believe that Constantine was involved as tradition claims a certain church in Rome as the first site of a December 25th “Christmas” celebration as the following 2007 news account indicates:

The church where the tradition of celebrating Christmas on Dec. 25 may have begun was built near a pagan shrine as part of an effort to spread Christianity, a leading Italian scholar says.

Italian archaeologists last month revealed an underground grotto that they believe ancient Romans revered as the place where a wolf nursed Rome’s legendary founder, Romulus, and his twin brother, Remus. A few feet from the grotto, or “Lupercale,” the Emperor Constantine built the Basilica of St. Anastasia, where some believe Christmas was first celebrated on Dec. 25…

It opted to mark Christmas, then celebrated at varying dates, on Dec. 25 to coincide with the Roman festival celebrating the birth of the sun god, Andrea Carandini, a professor of archaeology at Rome’s La Sapienza University, told reporters Friday. The Basilica of St. Anastasia was built as soon as a year after the Nicaean Council. It probably was where Christmas was first marked on Dec. 25, part of broader efforts to link pagan practices to Christian celebrations in the early days of the new religion, Mr. Carandini said. “The church was built to Christianize these pagan places of worship,” he said. “It was normal to put a church near these places to try to ‘save’ them.” Rome’s archaeological superintendent, Angelo Bottini, who did not take part in Mr. Carandini’s research, said that hypothesis was “evocative and coherent” and “helps us understand the mechanisms of the passage from paganism to Christianity.” (Scholars link 1st yule church to pagan shrine. Washington Times – Dec 23, 2007 ROME (AP). http://washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071223/FOREIGN/924350661/1001 viewed 12/24/07).

And the December 25th date was adopted apparently because the Greco-Roman church was filled with people who did not care that this was the Saturnalias/Mithras birthday (see also Do You Practice Mithraism?), so calling it by the name of Christ somehow was believed to make the sun rebirth activities more acceptable.

And the December 25th Christmas did not become part of the observations in Constantinople until the famous hater of Jews, John Chrysostum, introduced it there:

We may take it as certain that the feast of Christ’s Nativity was kept in Rome on 25 December…It was introduced by St. John Chrysostom into Constantinople and definitively adopted in 395 (Thurston. H. Transcribed by Rick McCarty. Christian Calendar. The Catholic Encyclopedia, Volume III. Published 1908. New York: Robert Appleton Company. Nihil Obstat, November 1, 1908. Remy Lafort, S.T.D., Censor. Imprimatur. +John Cardinal Farley, Archbishop of New York ).

Furthermore, here is even more that The Catholic Encyclopedia admits about Christmas:

Christmas…Irenaeus and Tertullian omit it from their lists of feasts; Origen, glancing perhaps at the discreditable imperial Natalitia, asserts (in Lev. Hom. viii in Migne, P.G., XII, 495) that in the Scriptures sinners alone, not saints, celebrate their birthday; Arnobius (VII, 32 in P.L., V, 1264) can still ridicule the “birthdays” of the gods.

Alexandria. The first evidence of the feast is from Egypt. About A.D. 200, Clement of Alexandria (Strom., I, xxi in P.G., VIII, 888) says that certain Egyptian theologians “over curiously” assign, not the year alone, but the day of Christ’s birth, placing it on 25 Pachon (20 May) in the twenty-eighth year of Augustus…

Cyprus, Mesopotamia, Armenia, Asia Minor. In Cyprus, at the end of the fourth century, Epiphanius asserts against the Alogi (Hær., li, 16, 24 in P. G., XLI, 919, 931) that Christ was born on 6 January…

Rome. At Rome the earliest evidence is in the Philocalian Calendar (P. L., XIII, 675; it can be seen as a whole in J. Strzygowski, Kalenderbilder des Chron. von Jahre 354, Berlin, 1888), compiled in 354, which contains three important entries. In the civil calendar 25 December is marked “Natalis Invicti”…

By the time of Jerome and Augustine, the December feast is established, though the latter (Epp., II, liv, 12, in P.L., XXXIII, 200) omits it from a list of first-class festivals. From the fourth century every Western calendar assigns it to 25 December…

The Gospels. Concerning the date of Christ’s birth the Gospels give no help; upon their data contradictory arguments are based. The census would have been impossible in winter: a whole population could not then be put in motion…

Natalis Invicti. The well-known solar feast, however, of Natalis Invicti, celebrated on 25 December, has a strong claim on the responsibility for our December date. For the history of the solar cult, its position in the Roman Empire, and syncretism with Mithraism, see Cumont’s epoch-making “Textes et Monuments” etc., I, ii, 4, 6, p. 355…The earliest rapprochement of the births of Christ and the sun is in Cypr., “De pasch. Comp.”, xix, “O quam præclare providentia ut illo die quo natus est Sol . . . nasceretur Christus.” – “O, how wonderfully acted Providence that on that day on which that Sun was born . . . Christ should be born.”…

Cards and presents. Pagan customs centering round the January calends gravitated to Christmas…

The yule log. The calend fires were a scandal even to Rome, and St. Boniface obtained from Pope Zachary their abolition (Martindale C. Christmas, 1908).

Hence it is clear that even early Roman writers such as Irenaeus, Tertullian, and Origen did not endorse Christmas, nor did Augustine even list it as an important holiday. And that even later Catholic sources recognize that it is not likely that a census (as shown in Luke 2:1) would be done during the winter–making a December 25th date of birth unlikely (it was also too cold for shepherds to spend the night with their flocks out in an open field, as shown in Luke 2:8, making a December 25th birth basically impossible).

It appears that towards the beginning of the third century, there were some in Alexandria (not Asia Minor, or even Rome) who began to feel that Jesus’ birth should be celebrated, and that it would be on May 25th. But later, in the fourth century, Christmas began to be celebrated with January 6th or December 25 being the dates observed (and that is believed to be because the sun-worshiping Emperor Constantine, or one of his successors, wanted to have a Sun holiday at the time of Saturnalia and Brumalia to placate the Gentiles).

The simple fact is that early Christians did not have a holiday to observe the “incarnation.” If God wanted it celebrated, perhaps the date, as well as some admonition to observe it, would be in the New Testament. Compromisers who claimed to be Christian could not pass up a December party called Saturnalia. Those who had ties to the sun god Mithras wanted to keep observing his day. And so, in the fourth century, something like Christmas was officially observed in Rome and Constantinople.

But, history suggests that there were actual Christians who would not follow Rome or Constantinople. And there still are today. What about you?
